Many healthcare workers have been infected with or exposed to covid 19 multiple times. Many of us complied with the initial vaccine mandate as it threatened our livelihood. We saw many staff still become infected with the virus despite being “fully vaccinated”. We have lost friends and family to covid and realize it has the potential to cause a serious inflammatory response in the body. We all charted unknown territory by accepting the initial vaccines. However, the general population are mildly symptomatic if at all. The vast majority of people have now had some variant of the covid 19 virus and we all worked through it. We demand that politics be removed from this threatening mandate and ask our constituents to focus on the scientific data. At this point in time, this is nearly a pandemic and moving towards an endemic. We should not be forced to get a vaccine repeatedly when science proves it is barely a threat. You shouldn’t get furloughed without pay (aka fired) for something that is not necessary for doing our job well. The vaccine will not prevent spread, it may minimize symptoms but the natural immunity we all have from showing up to work every day to risk our lives and families lives through the height of a pandemic should be commended rather than punished. We are tired. We feel defeated. We want to be left alone. Let us do our job. We ask Catholic Health and Northwell to honor your workers and for Governor Hochul to rescind the covid 19 booster mandate. We invite anyone who is a healthcare worker, friends and family of healthcare workers, and anyone affected my this mandate to research the data behind the skewed misinformation the media spreads and support our petition to help us keep our jobs. 
This should not be the ‘thanks’ we get as front line workers. This is power hungry politics and we will not stand for it.
