When our frame failed while driving 30 mph through a tiny town….and the welders said we have metal fatigue and the weight of the unit is way too heavy for the Lippert frame….it was a scary accident….NOONE cared! That was the moment of realizing this thing may kill us some day.

As an avid RV owner and Certified RV Inspector I can testify first hand to the critical need for unbiased, third-party oversight of the RV manufacturers to ensure the public is receiving a safe and high quality product. The numerous safety and quality issues I have seen in Brand New RVs is av disgrace. Please take action NOW!

I bought a brand new Keystone RV in the end of 2021 (2021 model). It was great for about 15 months until I realized the frame was failing. I fought with Keystone for weeks before they even agreed to look at it. Come to find out that EVERY one of the cross members between the frame rails was broken, so the floor and axles were the only thing holding it together. After several weeks, we replaced it with a new 2023 Keystone. This one was a problem from day one. From dangerous wiring, to poor plumbing, wrongly installed shower that lead to the glass exploding while my 4 year old was in there, ladder not attached to structure, improperly installed slides, and improperly installed gaskets and weather stripping. We fixed issue after issue until we hit the 18 month mark and again found that the frame was failing in the same way as our 2021. It took months of fighting with Keystone again to get them to take it back and come to an agreement with them.

Our RV fridge was wired horribly and started smoking. Pulled it out and found out they cut over half the wires on both 8AWG wires and twisted them together to fit in the wing nut. It could have started a fire from how much resistance was happening.

Purchased a 2024 5th wheel. Less then a 60 mile drive to our home, we found a slow leak in the tire caused by a crack in the wheel. Was it there before we left? That we don't know. We were told by the dealer, and Grand Design that there were no replacements to be found. Waited 6 weeks for a new one to be delivered to us. In the mean time as we were putting stuff away notice the wall behind the buffet was not completed. When we finally got to use it, noticed the under belly cover started sagging. Found out, none of the wires and other components were not attached to the frame. They were just laying on it. Took dealership 6 hours to tie everything up. We are now keeping our eye on a saw dust problem not sure where it's coming from. Also the bolts in the pin box had become loose and needed to be torqued back to the factory setting. So we haven't used it much in a year due to time sitting and waiting it's turn to be repaired. We didn't feel we needed a independent inspection because it was new and off the lot. We are now saddened that we didn't have it done. A few safety thoughts run through our heads. Tire could of blown out, fire from rubbing component's, a accident from loose bolts. These thing concern us. More inspections of these rigs need to be done in the factory, or before they leave the lot. And it shouldn't have to be at the cost of the costumer. That has paid dearly for a product they feel should of been safe in the first place.

People are being sold units that can't support full-time living however manufacturers are promoting their units can support it.

I’ve had three campers and they all had issues, from slides leaking, electrical issues, cabinets falling out of the ceiling, faulty plumbing, ladders loose, walls buckling, and there’s more, list goes on, I paid more for my campers than my house, I live in it 7 months out of the year, and travel with it, very disappointed in the way they are thrown together for the money. It’s supposed to be an enjoyable experience, unfortunately, it’s a constant worry of what’s gonna break next. Every trip out I’m afraid to walk inside. Things need to change, this has to end, manufacturers are NOT putting out a reliable product!!!

Mental health is a very important part of our health. Our minds need to be taken care of and sometimes we need guidance on how to do that. Don't deny our pilots the this very important need. They are humans too with real problems; but they also have many precious other lives in their hands when they're working. Give them the support they need
