Victories in Noise Pollution Reduction

Having collaborated with Councilmember Diaz on multiple noise related issues in years past I was disappointed to see her sponsor the roll back of critical noise protections. Voting to weaken noise standards goes against multiple scientific studies linking excessive noise to hearing loss, hypertension and other health concerns.. Why would anyone take such a thoughtless, callous and careless action? It's time for our City Council to correct this mistake - our community's health and well being must be protected! - Mike Hertz, Member - River Communities Coalition of Yonkers (RCCY)

I have lived in my house since 1989 and have had such a wonderfully peaceful environment to live in. With the current situation of these concerts going on it is beyond enjoyable. I want my peace and quiet back so that I can enjoy my home like I did when I moved in. I do pay taxes and feel like we should not have to tolerate listening to somebody else’s music. I feel really sorry for all the families with young children.

Seascape Resort used to be quiet. I used to enjoy living across from it, especially playing golf at the resort with my Dad. But now they have turned the resort into a “music vacation” place. I wish they would build an interior space for their concerts or at the very minimum do something to reduce the sound directed at our neighborhood. These concerts last for a long time. From around 3ish to 10pm for 3 days for “each” event. We are not looking forward to the six - 3 days events they have scheduled for the Fall. Please do something. This has become too much. I hate seeing my Dad work 12 hour days and then have to come home to hear the bass from a loud concert with the grand finale between 9pm-10pm.

It is disappointing to renovate our home after 28 years of living in the same home, and absolutely loving it because it was located on the quiet side of MIRAMAR BEACH on the Bay. However, now we are experiencing an ever increasing invasion of sound and uncomfortable vibrations from the bass entering into our home environments due to the Topeka Concerts at Seascape Resort. We were tolerant when it started because it was a 3-day concert in the Spring and a 3 -day concert in the Fall. However the music festivals have grown in number with SIX 3-day music festival events scheduled in the Fall of 2025. This has gotten out of hand. We have met with the founder, we have emailed him, people have invited him over to their houses so he could experience the level of noise we are having to tolerate that has become frustrating for our families. Unfortunately, he has responded with empty promises and outright lies and manipulations. Topeka LLC never installed any type of sound mitigating infrastructure when they started these music festivals and this is a problem! They also directed the stage and the speakers to point towards the locals on the bay. This is inapporpaiate and unhealthy for the residential areas to be experiencing noise pollution of over 90 decibels for days and hours at a time. We receive approximately 6 hours a day for each 3 day concert, and sometimes there is a 4th concert day for the VIP guest. We need help getting signatures so our county commissioners can update and add to the current Walton County noise ordinance for our growing Walton County. If these ordinances do not start including appropriate decibel levels for neighborhoods and also the enforcement of sound absorbing fencing around all of these music festival events, then the entire South Walton is vulnerable to receiving potential year round noise violations invading our residential communities. We need to get to the root of the problem by updating our current Walton County Noise Ordinances so people can still enjoy the concerts without interrupting the residents constitutional rights to have peace and quiet in our residential neighborhoods. Life at home should be a refuge, a place to rejuvenate after a stressful day of work. Home should be a place for rest and relaxation, home is where we raise our children and have meaningful conversations with our families. We should not be asked to be tolerant when there are solutions that Topeka LLC, Seascape and Walton County should be addressing that would allow people to enjoy the concerts while we also enjoy our peaceful home environments.

The concerts are so loud people 6 miles away can hear them. The county should enforce some type of sound barrier, especially since these music concerts have changed from a few events a year to now "music vacations." Clearly, they have a plan to make the resort a music focused venue. If this is true, they either need to build an interior concert hall where the music events are held inside or they need to install sound minimizing infrastructure. The county needs to enforce this.

We live on Chase Run across the street. It wakes and keeps my child up and scares her. It also disrupts our sleep. All of our neighbors say the same thing, one of the neighbors even being a bartender at seascape and is not happy with it.

🙏Please hear me out ~ Not asking for the concerts to end, but my home, my place of peace, is directly across from this concert venue. We have had meetings where residents/taxpayers *thought* our concerns were heard, they weren’t. We have suggested flipping the speakers Gulfside, professional sound barriers (not mounds of dirt), and lowering the bass. You see, inside my entire home-bedroom, you just hear the constant bass, like one of the vehicles with a powerful subwoofer. Paintings have fallen off the wall in my living room. This continues Thursday, Friday, alllll day Saturday, and Sunday-usually during State testing. This fall, we have 6/7 scheduled straight weeks in a row. I do understand once in a while, but 6/7 continuous reverberating weekends (Thurs-Sunday, daily) is no peace! Please imagine if you have a sound sensitive child, dog, or you or a loved one has migraine or such (many other issues have been brought up☹️.) By signing 🙏, you are simply asking for them to address these issues, not stop the concerts. No need to donate- but please help!

I’m a retired military combat veteran who owns 2 condos in Seascape and the concerts and noise pollution impacts my quality of life.

I've lived on Bayshore for 25 years and a big supporter of live music. However, the sound wash is over the top in our home where we can't escape it inside or out. And it starts during sound check when I'm in a deposition or with a client, that is very disturbing to my professional life. And then in the evenings, the amount of sound that occurs, we can't enjoy our family time. After 25 years of being a taxpayer and living in the same home, it has been extremely frustrating and disappointing that no action has been taken.
