Kratom legitimately saved my life. No joke, I would be dead without this plant. Instead of taking away a valuable tool, why not work with the Kratom community to make sure everyone has safe access to this wonderful plant.
I have suffered from addiction and depression for the better part of 20 years and chronic pain from an accident for almost a decade. Kratom has given me my life back and I know there are countless others whose lives have been improved by this wonderful plant medicine and many people will have their lives put at risk by a ban on kratom or any of its alkaloids.
Kratom has saved my life and got me off of street drugs. It even helped me get off the way more addictive Suboxone that they push on to us. Which also ruined a lot of my teeth but they don't care about that because big pharma makes their money that way. It is immoral to ban a natural product that helps so many people live. I can use kratom and still keep a job and do be a constructive member of society. I can't understand why they would want to take that away from so many people. Taking away our kratom and 7oh products is just gonna lead to more people looking for street drugs and a lot more deaths will follow. I really would hate to see that. Hopefully our words will get through to you all. Have a nice day..
How disappointing, it is almost as if our state doesn’t have enough to worry about. In short, Kratom is the only option left to help control pain for so many — those who ultimately become victims of our “healthcare system”, which has left these citizens with heinous, untreated, life-limiting pain, and/or in worse physical condition than they were prior to seeking care. It allows people to contribute to society, to work and to live their lives with by lightening the burden of untreated pain — not to mention the sadness and suffering this often causes throughout their families, as well. Unaddressed pain, after so many months, or years, will almost certainly break a person down; they may eventually take their own life. I have witnessed this tragedy personally twice, and I know I’m far from the only one. Please do your research — there are many easy to access, publicly published scientific studies regarding what this plant is actually capable of, and what it is not. Please do not neglect the sizable portion of citizens who live whole, full, and productive lives solely due to relief this plant has the ability to provide. Thank you.
This plant has helped my chronic pain and disease for many years. I have no side effects from using this plant. I did however have many side effects from the many medicines for pain that I was on prior. Taking away this amazing plant would literally take away living for many of us chronically ill patients that the medical system has bankrupt and hurt. The science and statistics of the plant need to be clearly read and understood. There are prescription drugs that have horrible side effect, why aren’t those being banned? I would like to see my NC government officials helping all of its citizens. You cannot ethically take away a plant that is helping so many because of a few negative reviews or opinions. There are so many bigger issues in our country and state. Let us chronically ill patients have something that helps us be productive members of society. Nothing should be banned without adequate facts and science behind it. If NC still stands behind selling cigarettes and alcohol (that has MANY documented deaths and side effects) then leave Kratom alone and leave it up to people to make their own choice if they consume it or not.
First of all I want to introduce myself to you, my name is Robert Cherry and I live in Texas I'm emailing in regards to the Bill you are trying to pass regulating the sale or outright bann of kratom in Tennessee. I'll start by giving you a run down of a few key points in why I'm emailing and then I'll get to the point of my email. I come from a living family but have struggled with addiction half of my life. I was over prescribed pain meds by doctors in this state due to a injury at work. Long story short I was addicted in no time to opiates and when my treatment was done and there was no more pain meds I turned to street drugs because of the withdrawal effect from pain medication that Texas doctors prescribed me. 10 years down the road and 13 overdoses later I'm in Florida and I get introduced to kratom, the plant most closely related to coffee, that you are trying to ban, in what's called a kava bar. It's a bitter tasting nasty liquid that comes in ground up powder form from Thailand. Long story short it completely to away any and all cravings for opiates or anything else for that matter. It literally saved my life. I have been clean now for over 5 years thanks to this wonderful plant that you are pushing to bann, and I am not alone, I know of MANY MANY OTHERS with this same story. The over doses you speak of in your bill are not overdoses from this plant aline, there are ALWAYS compounded reasons such as use of other illicit drugs mixed with kratom that cause the deaths. There have been 0 strictly kratom related deaths because you cannot die from kratom alone, and if you do some REAL research you will see my claim is true. The AKA, American Kratom Association, that is comprised of Doctors and lawyers have hundreds of factual data that you can look into if you have free time. I'm saying all of that to say this, kratom is not a dangerous drug, it has saved my life and thousands of others and if you ban this wonderful plant you will be dooming many people to seek other means to filling that void that addicts have in there minds. We are not going to stop taking something that helps us cope with our life, you have no idea what everyone has going on in there minds but kratom has helped me live a happy, clean and sober life free of mind altering street drugs. I feel for the person that died but I know that kratom ALONE did not kill him, there has NEVER been a death from kratom where the leading cause was kratom alone. Please do the research before you blindly push for a ban that will be doing more harm than good. Thanks for letting me share my story
After a motorcycle accident left me in constant pain 2 years ago, the only medicine that has helped dramatically has been kratom. I prefer not to take pharmaceuticals and I choose to go with holistic and herbal medicines instead. Kratom when used responsibly is the only pain killer that has been effective without all the downsides and side effects that hydrocodone has. The legality of these controlled substances has not detered the abusers from using.. opioid epidemic is at an all time high yet the drug is illegal. Please do not enforce any band on kratom because there will always be people to abuse what they do not have respect for. This plant is a medicine and there are more of us out there who respect the nature of its power and use it for its intended purposes, for health and wellness. There will always be the ones out there who will abuse it, just like with pharmaceuticals, the legality of it doesn't stop them from going overboard. Don't let the few take away the rights for us many who need this medicine. Thank you.
