Cannabis helped me get off harder drugs including heroin and other medications I was prescribed. I was in the armed forces, joining at the young age of 16 years and 7months.. I was medically discharged after 2 years due to chronic pain issues after an injury and was also diagnosed with ptsd & BPD afterwards. I was tried on so many different medications that made me worse and also led to addiction. Yet cannabis helped me find my way back to the right path, got my life back & also helped fight the symptoms of my mental health issues aswel as my chronic pain. I’m lucky I never got a conviction for cannabis but so many others I know of havent been and weren’t harming others just merely trying to self medicate without using things with way more side effects. yet get their life ruined by the police and courts for trying to help themselves. Most people are self medicating, if they don’t have a private prescription from a clinic due to lack of awareness that it’s prescribed or not being able to afford it. This would make it so much easier for those people to safely and securely use their medicine without worry of conviction or the stigma that’s still attached. This would also stop children with still developing brains from accessing it as much via black market dealers as they usually don’t ask for ID like a regulated sale would. I believe it’s the best step forward and it would help this country and its economy greatly with tax being able to pay for the NHS and public services that are overwhelmed. aswel as decreasing the profits that cannabis sales bolster organised crime gangs & reducing crime associated with those groups . also helping mental health as people won’t be allowed paranoid they’re gonna get arrested everytime they use a plant. it’ll be regulated and not grown with harmful chemicals and it’ll allow people choose strains that are more suited to them that doesn’t exacerbate their symptoms and instead helps them. Which isn’t available often on the streets alot of people can only get what they’re given and don’t know how it’s being grown and how it’s going to affect them. As adults we should have the right to use a harmless and non toxic plant medicine that has no risk of overdose to help ourselves heal or even if someone chooses to use it recreationally then they should be allowed to just like they can make the choice of destroying themselves with tobacco and alcohol which are actually killing people. We’re so behind other countries we need to change attitudes towards cannabis and catch up with the rest world!

I have signed this petition because of the awful tragic reality of suicide amonst young people. Pharmacies will argue that they limit the number of paracetamol packets to two per purchase, but determined people will visit supermarket after chemist shop after corner shop to top up their requirements. Ironically, I am one of those now who needs paracetamol daily, firstly for longstanding arthritic pain, and now for the recovery of knee replacement surgery. But, in my adolescence, I was one of those who took an overdose, and there were no limits on the number you could buy in those days. Luckily I survived to now need those pills for pain relief - oh, the irony! My thoughts and condolences are with anyone affected by suicide.
Sarah supported: Move Paracetamol to Pharmacies for More Controlled Distribution
I signed this petition because Alice was a dear friend, a bright girl with a bright future. Paracetamol is the most commonly used in an overdose with about 70 000 cases annually in Britain. Paracetamol is stored low down and easily accessible everyone, even little wondering hands and without security tags! Paracetamol is also sold to anyone over 16 years old; with a two box limit (32 tablets!). In one box alone, there is double the daily maximum safe dosage. The usual dose of paracetamol is one or two 500mg tablets at a time, up to 4 times in 24 hours. The maximum dose is eight 500mg tablets in 24 hours. So in two boxes, you can buy 4 days worth of tablets. This needs to change. I believe Paracetamol should have controlled distribution. If we think about shops, they are open almost 24 hours, 7 days a week and with easily accessible tablets, think of the risks! Moving all paracetamol to pharmacies means it cannot be as easily accessible to all, with controlled distribution from trained professionals. Shop employees are not trained in medicine.

I have been in addiction and now in recovery for almost 10 years. Places like Acer save people's lives, literally. Bristol will be lost without this detox facility. I have also worked at Acer and have the most wonderful memories of lives being transformed through this place. Taking away a vital service for the most vulnerable people in Bristol, just doesn't make sense. Save Acer!

The Acer Unit saves so many lives and helps so many people. Had I not benn to a detox unit, I would not be alive today.
Lara supported: Save the Acer unit detox
A very dear friend of mine survived because of the Acer Unit. The unit makes a difference to addicts as well as their families; their children and their friends. The Acer Unit is a life line in Bristol. It has to be saved - listen to the people. It makes the difference between life and death.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS! Addiction and mental illness are so deeply intwined and every vulnerable person deserves the care and support to fight these battles. Though I haven't fought addiction, Southmead Hospital cared for me many times through battles with mental illness and I wouldn't be here without the mental health wards. This one is just as vital and MUST be protected 💚

When people are ready to change or have hit rock bottom THAT'S when you need a detox unit. There aren't enough of them anyway so taking away another is insanity! I've been sober for 30 years thanks to such a unit. Please, give people a chance and leave this unit alone, and if anything up the funding!!!

Addiction is killing many vulnerable people, who desperately just need help. I know because I’m an addict myself and help can be difficult to find. Most addicts don’t want to be stuck in the spiral of addiction but need love and support to get out.
