Park, Street, pavement and Alley way safety in Bradford.

Park, Street, pavement and Alley way safety in Bradford.

The Issue

Over the recent years Bradford has been affected by drug abuse, anti social behaviour, speeding and damage to our park, lampposts, cars, bins and the list goes on.

We need action to be taken swiftly, whether its with the help of the police or local council. We want and need change. Neighbours have tried their best to make change but we feel more needs to be done.

We've also made a group called Friends of West Park but its a slow process and we need to work with parks administrators to get things done. Weve lived around here for long enough to know if you want something done, get out and do something about it. The community want to take matters into their own hands.

We need better investment, there's parts of the park like the bowling green that got used i think twice or three times last year and has barely been used in the last decade. There's parts of the park that needs fencing as families don't feel safe especially in the dark. The pathway is too narrow, we have quite a large community and they need space to walk. And let's not forget the mention of an imaginary gym in West park on Bradford councils website.

We want our Alley way to be gated if not atleast bollards or the Tree plant pots, whatever stops vehicles from speeding up and down *back Lytton Road which has three entrances to the park.

Speeding vehicles is one of the many issues going on in this Alley way, there's drug abuse, balloon gas bottles and glass bottles being left everywhere. I myself and a few of us neighbours are cleaning this Alley regularly and we've now come to a point where we are just fedup.

If the community gives up, what will happen to our homes. Last Halloween someone set my fence on fire and threw a fire work through my door and many of our neighbours will have similar stories.

Blocking the Road for larger vehicles will stop fly tipping, anti social behaviour and drug abuse which is influencing our children.

Please feel free to leave a comment and don't forget to share.
