I was incarcerated at Huron valley 2008- 2016. For the duration of my incarceration, I was a porter, my duty was to clean the shower and bathroom areas which were infested with Black mold so thick that it was impossible to clean with the cleaning supplies provided. Myself and others complained constantly about this issue. Our complaints fell on deaf ears. The showers were covered from floor to ceiling with mold. Ventilation was poor. Gross is an understatement for this condition. It is extremely hard not to rub up against the mold and slime within the shower that was not able to be removed with the pink and watered down cleaning supplies given to us to clean the units. No I'm one in administration cared about us women breathing in or coming in contact with the mold . As sure as I am alive today I am willing to sign this petition and testify under oath about this inhumane treatment.
This is cruel and unusual punishment. Her constitutional rights are being violated!! If this were your family how would you feel?? I can’t believe this is happening in the US. Free this woman and any other inmate being condemned to die so they can seek medical attention at home. Do what is right!!
I was ill and disabled 28 years. I was unknowingly exposed to mold most of my life. Even my new build in the desert had building material molds. Things need to change. Awareness and education needs to increase. Laws need to be drafted. Now after 28 years I have restored my health. None of my treats was covered by insurance. Now I am a functional health coach helping individuals restore their health from mold toxicity. I work with many clients who are in water damaged homes or apartments and they don't have the finances to get. Their need to be stricter regulations around how apartments address water damage.
