This is unacceptable! Animals are a lifetime commitment! Many service members are stationed in Hawaii and should be provided the resources to take their animals with them when they PCS! Also more screening for potential adopters needs to happen! With each of my cats, I had to provide a list of references and a background check was completed to make sure I was safe to adopt my cats. Animals deserve better!
For people who truly love their pets as family should know if one of their pets have been found deceased to give them some sort of closure. For me personally I would want to know if that was my pet.
my heart goes out to these animals. I used to donate to the NV Humane Society and then found out they are federally funded, so I now donate to CCRCS an organization that helps abused and "not wanted" dogs find new homes by training them there is love for them. So sad to receive this email but these dogs need a voice.
I worked at NHS and had to work under this CEO . She really did stack the bodies while I was there - she’s not the only one responsible either though! There needs to be a complete house cleaning of higher up’s at NHS and the positions need to be refilled with people who actually care about the animals and not just about the NUMBERS and SELLING HIGH DEMAND BREEDS
REST IN PEACE ALL THE PUPS WHO DIDNT
AND WONT MAKE IT OUT OF THAT BUILDING
As a former employee I saw first hand how Jerleen Bryant is only in this field for the money and media. She made the shelter appear amazing to media and your everyday visitor by spending what seemed like an enormous amount of money on the shelter cosmetics and a new office for herself. This was her FIRST action she took when she came to the shelter. She stopped taking the dogs who needed help, and instead, filled the shelter with “adoptable” dogs costing double to triple what they were priced at before. I was one of COUNTLESS employees who quit on the spot due to her lack of humanity and passion for the animals well being, as well as the employees. It is so sad to see such an amazing place get turned into a slaughterhouse. As of a year ago when I left, they were averaging 7-10 dogs weekly getting euthanized for reasons they never should be. Simply because they weren’t what Jerleen Bryant and Trent Bringham desired. Trent Bringham does not deserve the position he has, and does not know the FIRST thing about animal behavior or handling. And Jerleen Bryant is scarily good at sweeping problems under the rug before the media gets involved and appearing to be an amazing person.
My heart breaks when I see dogs go in and out of the system. They don't understand what they did wrong. They have feelings, thoughts, and emotions. They aren't simply numbers on an excel sheet. It's just important to me that they are fit with proper homes and people that will love them; to do that, you need to have someone at the helm who genuinely cares.
The beatings that this dog endured is unimaginable. It took the citizens of Escambia Co., FL many calls/emails to Escambia Co. Sheriff's Office and Escambia Co. Animal Welfare and Enforcement (AC) to investigate. It really takes a village to be a voice for the animals. Amazingly, CHARLES DAVID THORNTON II was arrested 24 hours after the video was posted online. If the person who took the video had not shared and begged for help, this abuser would not be held accountable. These beatings constitute FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY in FL and that's just what he was charged with.
