My husband was raised in our home; his parents, the grandparents to our 3 children now reside next door and between us, have around 6 acres. We love our quiet little country community away from the hustle and bustle of inner Jacksonville. We love that we can count on our close neighbors when we need to lean on them. We work hard and want to keep this patch of paradise zoned in its current fashion. Our street cannot handle the already increased traffic that Quiet country Ln, Bridges rd and Dunn Ave endure currently. Adding 141 homes to our “No outlet” street would be devastating; subsequently adding around 1500 trips. Jacksonville city council members need to think for themselves future not just with their pockets to line for today. The amount of growing families that this would bring would already strain the school systems and the dense populations surrounding it. The peaceful quiet habitats of the animals this would further devastate is concerning. What about the strain on our law enforcement and first responders.
I’m thoroughly disappointed in the city’s lack of transparency for the residents of our community not being notified.
Our neighbors and myself oppose the rezoning ordinance in our area. We already have enough traffic enough houses on the streets. We do not want rental houses around the community. It’s going to make our properties go down in value our schools will be higher and not enough to take care of all the children let alone the traffic is already terrible. The accidents right here on Dunn Avenue in Bridges Road are high with a death toll that is high because of the traffic I oppose this bill.
My grandfather was one of the first people to build off of bridges in the late 60s and it has been a quiet and peaceful road for as long as I can remember. All the construction and traffic from this rezoning would be a burden on everyone who lives on bridges.
This is our neighborhood, homes, families, friends and our quality of life. We have to stop this rezoning effort! We are a community of young families, established families, veterans, business owners, skilled labor workers, teachers, nurses, public servants, retirees and many other professions. On our street you can wave good morning, know your neighbors, see the kids playing and get your daily steps in. This will all change if big developers get their way and build 140+ houses on a little over 20 acres at the end of our little road, out street can barely accommodate 2 cars passing each other and this developer / home builder won't be required to address infrastructure. Public safety as it relates to traffic on Dunn Ave will be overly problematic among other very important concerns including over populated public schools. This won't just effect our little road, it will effect neighboring communities, roads, traffic, schools and so much more. We need everyone's help in opposing the rezoning effort to line the pockets of developers and big builders.
My family & I found a large lot off Quiet Country Ln 28 years ago & have resided there ever since. We moved there knowing that this are was deed restricted and zoned for larger lots and a limited amount of houses. If a community this size is built, it will be adjacent to our property. The trees will be cut and dirt will be brought in which will definitely cause water runoff on to our lot which is already what I call wet lands. We enjoy surrounded by trees and have a horse. There are many other issues which will impact this area along Bridges Rd which others have mentioned. Here, I am speaking as one home owner that stands to be the most impacted but am in unison with my neighbors on Bridges Rd. That is how it will personally affect me. I realize development is inevitable, however, it is hard for me to see why a large community needs to be stuffed on to 22 acres at the dead end road in a well established neighborhood. At some point, there will be no little patches of woods left. We like living in the country in the city. It really is ashamed how the dollar is causing some to exploit what little land we have that surrounds us. Quiet Country Ln. will no longer be quiet and our local deer will again have to relocate. What is the point of zoning laws when it appears they can be changed it seems on a whim. I am opposed to any new houses, however, I believe it would be a small little victory if our voices are heard and we could significantly limit the number of houses and keep it zoned for equestrian use. Thank You for your attention.
As these construction companies build houses, they forget to build communities. Piling so many homes on the smallest pieces of properties, leaves you with little more than an apartment complex mentality and continue to create stressors for our already overburdened emergency services.
I've been living out here for over 13 years and the entire neighborhood is one of the most peaceful neighborhoods you can ride through. Rezoning Bridges road would destroy the character of this neighborhood which has stood string for over 20+ years. The people in this neighborhood want peace and quiet not 141 houses built to fund one realtor agenda to make money. It isn't right, and it will take courage from our city council and mayor to stop this greedy agenda. All the houses that have been built on VC Johnson in that back part of the neighborhood are ugly and have no personality. They all look the same and you have cause the animals of these lands to show up in places they once called home. It's overall bad the community. Stop allowing these builders to purchase lands and destroy our communities.
I have been in this neighborhood for over 30 years living in peace and quiet. Our neighbors and myself oppose the rezoning ordinance that will be trying to take over in our neighborhood on Bridges Road and Quiet Country Lane. These homes will make our properties go down on value. And the traffic will be horrendous. We love our country living with our trees and deer family. This is why we all chose this area to get away from all of the extra noise, and we do not want any rental houses in our neighborhood at all. I am totally opposed with this rezoning ordinance 2025-91.
oppose this Rezoning Ordinance 2025-91.
I stand in support of protecting Mapulehu Valley and its sacred lands from unjust development and misuse. This area is not only a critical archaeological site but also holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for Native Hawaiians. The voices of kuleana land title holders must be respected, and access to ancestral lands should not be denied. Molokai’s lands should be preserved for agricultural, cultural, and conservational purposes to honor its history and protect its future. Let’s prioritize stewardship over exploitation and ensure that Hawai‘i’s sacred places remain intact for generations to come. Mālama ‘āina, always.
