Wild One is the heart and soul of the property, and has been a source of joy for Marylanders for generations at this point, and has a history going back well over a century. The loss of this attraction will be a blow not just to amusement park fans, but to the whole state of Maryland.
While I understand we have to do our best to fight climate change we cannot due it at the expanse of destroying all our history and the items that survived from days past. These locomotives need to be saved, either by having a prime mover swap to allow them to continue service, moved to another museum/heritage line, or have an exception made for their continued use on the vineyard train. So few Alcos are left we all must do what we can save these valuable pieces of Californian and American Railroad history.
We loved taking one of the historic trains a few years ago to relieve a little piece of Napa history. They are a key icon of the Napa Valley and unifying symbol for the local community. What a shame to scrap these locomotive which provide a rare windows into a different time! Please save these beautiful machines.
I feel like this is a piece of Hollywood history that deserves to be preserved. It makes no sense to buy a coveted property to demolish it. Feels like a personal issue or vendetta regarding Marylin on behalf of the new owners. I fell in love with the property all from the comfort of my own home and I never been close to Brentwood in my life. That's how great and alive the home is. Don't destroy a piece of history.
