Hermosa Beach would be greatly enhanced by the addition of a large community pool!
Life in the South Bay revolves around water and water sports. Hermosa Beach residents do not have equal access to swimming pools, water classes, and lap swimming, without their own municipal pool. Hermosa residents are shut out of registrations for swimming lessons and other water classes in the neighboring cities, because residents of those cities get priority at their city’s pools. Please build a pool in Hermosa and give families the chance to have water safe children!
The benefits are endless and the community will be greatly enhanced with the addition of a Hermosa Beach community swimming pool.

There aren’t that many places to teach kids how to swim… We are a beach community; our kids need to learn how to swim for their own safety!

Because I’m a resident of HB I must pay extra and MB residents can sign up days in advance for lanes than I’m allowed to. While this works out fine in the winter when less people compete for lanes, the spring/summer is a different story altogether. It’s also impossible to get a spot during Junior Lifeguard “season” as parents snatch up spots so kids can get their times. It would be a boon for this community to have a pool of our own: lap swimming, lessons, pool aerobics for seniors (more Hermosa Five-O programming), recreational swim for kids and families, ADA access.
