When a grandparent has been instrumental in the life of a child, it is unthinkable that they can be ripped out of the child's life on a whim. This is traumatic for the child and not helpful for the continued healthy development of the child. Healthy communities require healthy families, and this would be a good start. Let's make sure we put our children first and prioritize them being loved and supported by the family members who have loved and supported them for years.

You think it can’t or won’t happen to you but it can. Consider how devastating it is for the children to suddenly have their grandparents ripped from their lives. Consider the lies they are being told by parents to explain the absent of their grandparents. This is a much bigger problem than what any of us realize until Cheri Crane started working feverishly to right this wrong. Please sign this petition for the sake of grandchildren & grandparents alike. Share this information! As adults we are often tasked with speaking on behalf of innocent children & this is no exception. Help us persuade the Indiana Legislature to change our laws. I don’t feel that it should be anyone’s choice to take them away unless they are being harmed. Grandparents usually try to give their grandchildren love and support.

Joan supported: Protect the Wrongfully Accused in Child Abuse Cases in OhioAbout 27yrs ago when my kids were small my daughter broke her arm on a neighbors trampoline this wasn't an issue; Just a few weeks after she got out of her cast, our son broke his wrist while rolling blading with his friends, that is where they began questioning us and our son (he was 10 at the time); As I arrived at the hospital ER (I was working, it was hubby's 1st day of his vacation) they wee trying to keeper from going back where my son was🤬 but I wasn't having it! Either take me or I'll go find him & I'll call the law myself! They questioned him all the way to the closed induction surgery to see if he changed his story (HE DID NOT). Don't tell me hospital staff isn't judgy either! As my son in his early adult years busted his ankle skateboarding, I took him to ER, the look on that nurses face when she asked who I was was UNREAL I looked at her and said I'm his f..... mother! Her: Oh we're not here to judge I said: you just did judge me/us with that look on your face! While I do realize there are cases of abuse, not every case is! and needs investigated throughly, Also remembering IF it's not a case of abuse, the trauma caused to those kids by instantly being taken from a perfectly loving home!

It pains me that I don't have access to them. It's been a year over and I still haven't heard from or about them.
I hereby declare that this debarment and control by the living other parent that prevents the grandparents from being a part of their grandchildren lives be abolished. We as grandparents want to be a part of our grandchildren lives especially connecting the decease side of the family with the grandchildren.
