Gas-powered leaf blowers were a major noise and pollution issue in my neighborhood. I found a landscaper who only uses electric ones, and the quietness is truly amazing! I’m happy that I no longer disturb my neighbors.
Our homes should be our refuges. The noise from gas leaf blowers is totally disturbing, and I have had to leave home to find some quiet place. The air is also polluted by poisons from the gas, dirt, animal feces and so on. They must go. We can do better than this.
Noise pollution when I’m in the sanctuary of my home with my windows closed is very offensive. Gas powered leaf blowers cause air pollution as well, are bad for the health of the people using them, and blow away nests of essential native critters.
The residents of Huntington have worked too hard for too many years to gain a unanimous consensus among the Council and it should not be overturned simply because of landscapers and equipment users who refuse to understand how their actions IMPACT other people. The noise and air pollution does not stop at the property line, so they cannot continue to use the same tired "I can do what I want on my own property" as an excuse. Just because one side is now getting louder does not mean that the Council should overturn a ruling based on public health. Be an example, not another backsliding municipality. The public health experts in Huntington have fought too hard for this.
