Good news! Volunteers made up of Narberth community members who have formed a small working group interested in promoting environmentally sound lawn care practices have reached out after seeing our petition! They are working on behalf of the Narberth EAC (Environmental Advisory Council) to provide examples of ordinances and write a rationale for banning polluting lawn equipment. I attended their meeting where Ellie Kerns, an environmentalist, who works with Penn Environment, discussed her work with PE, the environmental and human cost of polluting lawn care equipment, and what is happening regarding regulation in Lower Merion Township and surrounding areas.
The hope we all have is for a ban that will change the practices of professional lawn care companies, small businesses, and homeowners, and to make it happen with as little stress and cost on everyone as possible. It’s been done in many places around the country and we are on our way to making it happen here.
Please share the petition, or this QR code to the petition.
Here’s more you can do if you are able: Attend one or more meetings of the EAC which meets every other Wednesday. The next meeting is 7PM on May 1 and you can join by Zoom or in person at Borough Hall. See the Borough calendar (scroll down) for all you need: https://www.narberthpa.gov/
You can also write to Borough Council, their contact emails are also on the Borough website.
Thanks for reading, and keep up the good work!
