I actually was shocked to hear that a firework show was happening in the first place in Big Bear. Between the wildlife, and fire risk, this just seems outdated. We have to begin considering nature, even if it means a little less excitement.
There are other ways to celebrate the 4th of July, and with our national bird being a Bald Eagle, we can start by protecting those that call Big Bear home.
Please show your support for your well-known resident bald eagles and their young offspring (our national bird) , along with other wildlife of the Big Bear area, by not setting off fireworks this year. I saw how alarmed Jackie and Shadow were by two loud daytime gunshots earlier this season, and I am very concerned about how they (and their two fledglings) might respond to sustained fireworks at night. I urge you to forego the fireworks and celebrate in other ways that do not endanger their wellbeing. Thank you!
Fireworks aren't compatible with animals and nature. They frighten millions of animal every July. It would be heartbreaking if the eagle family or any family in the wild is forced to listen to ear shattering, stupid fireworks with no one to comfort them. Please ban them at BB Lake at least.
