My daughter has Mr. Rivercomb as a teacher and in this same class where this supposedly happened. I would like to know why he was suspended when so many parents had nothing but good experiences AND so many students said this never happened at all. All of the witnesses were ignored.
Better yet why is nothing being done about how HE has been treated by other teachers with scenes being made right in front of the students and doors being slammed?
We need to do better.
Our daughter has Mr. Revercomb and he has been a great teacher and her grade shows that. She talks highly about him, along with many other students. Look at the grades of students in his grade, he’s doing a great job. There was a time where people used to correct kids, and we are suspending a GOOD teacher based on him “cursing” which is unlikely. Please do better research
Mr. Revercomb was an amazing teacher when I attended his classes almost 3 years ago now. His lessons were valuable to all of us and he made learning fun. Not many teachers at this school can do that. I fully support this movement and it’s truly unjust how Revercomb has been treated. If anyone has a problem with Revercomb I’m easy to find. 153 Iron St, Rockhill, PA.
As a lifelong (since 1964) Cubs and more recent Dodgers (since 2000) fan, I respect the tradition and history of baseball. The torpedo bat “cheapens” the game, making it easier to hit in general and hit home runs in particular. Yes, some changes have worked out (e.g., designated hitter, making slides safer for fielders, and the pitch clock), this one strikes me as an unnecessary attempt to inject more offense. “Damn” the torpedo bats!
I appreciate that this petition is for students who had enrolled prior to information on the updates to the policy, which would apply to me and many of my colleagues and classmates. However, I would love to see it extended to revert back to the prior policy for all students. I likely would not have begun the WPMBA program if I had this knowledge of an impediment to my freedom of choice in my future career path. I have been deeply considering taking a pause or break from my program due to financial reasons and due to this policy. I would like to be able to remain flexible in future career choices, especially as the federal and state landscapes rapidly change and my position feels increasingly less secure because of funding concerns.
This petition is a fair request. I am in my last semester of the WPMBA program and OSU has changed the employee tuition assistance program since I began it's program. It is unfair to current students because this is something that was added after we had begun the program. We should be grandfathered in if this is how OSU is choosing to change things. Not only have my paychecks been severely reduced as a result of the current employee tuition "benefit", and has hurt me significantly in the filing of my annual taxes, but I feel this new change is a further stab at hurting us, not helping us. This needs to change immediately.
I understand why OSU feels the need to put forth this policy. However, I don't think it should be enacted on current students. For most of us, the point in employees using this benefit is to better themselves and move into new positions. OSU isn't always the best place for that growth to happen considering how underpaid many positions are. Some of us, chose to use this benefit to move out of a clinical position and into a management position that could mean moving outside of OSU. I feel that people should be made aware of this stipulation prior to actually starting the program so they can make their own decision. Those of us who are already in the program would be greatly impacted by this new policy and should be heard as to how they are impacted.
I agree with my fellow Buckeyes that we understand OSU's new policy, however, this petition for a grandfather clause for already enrolled students is a fair request. We enrolled based on established terms. Fisher's great network and employer relationships was a major consideration for me in joining this program – one that would have been weighted differently had required employment upon graduation been a term of accepting the benefit. This change unfairly impacts us as we were not given the opportunity to take this requirement into consideration before investing significant time, resources, and energy. I have faith that President Carter, the university HR leadership, and the Deans of all impacted programs are reasonable and can understand the need to implement a grandfather clause to maintain the originally established terms of this benefit, while still moving ahead with the new terms for those seeking to enroll in the future.
The employee tuition benefit gets sold as one of the best benefits provided by the university. The policy change puts it on par with other major private employers, while the pay scale is still far lower. That's fine for new applicants to consider as part of their compensation package going in, but it's wrong to change the terms for those of use who have already started our programs. This sort of policy change has very negatively altered my views on the program and made me more actively consider other employment. This doesn't encourage me to stay at OSU, it encourages me to leave before the policy takes effect.
