National parks are a place for preservation and appreciation of natural life. Drilling feeds money hungry billionaires unnecessary cash and to propose drilling in a place historically set aside for the opposite is the most disrespectful thing towards the earth and the American people that I can imagine.
There are so many creative possibilities for this building and site that would honor the history and culture of Denver while keeping this absolute treasure. (Picture turning the smokestack to an outdoor rock climbing tower.) Once it's gone, it's gone forever.
Pure Greed and not one thought has been given to seniors who are on fixed income and received such a low COLA so that now choices have to be made as to whether to buy food, medication, medical co-pays, transportation or pay utilities bills. Which one would those responsible for the increases choose to pay for?
I live alone and use minimal electricity. Made a conscious decision to grill my food instead of cook it in my oven range just to conserve electric. It is not helping! How can you allow a company to not upgrade their infrastructure, or even cut back trees around every transporter and still charge these outrageous prices when the average household income in the state of RI 60,000 for two salaries. #unacceptable price gouging at its finest. We should not be paying to subsidize any covid backlog.
Rhode Island families and small businesses are being squeezed by skyrocketing energy bills, and the culprit is clear: corporate greed and monopolization by RI Energy. As the state’s dominant utility provider, RI Energy a subsidiary of multinational conglomerate PPL Corporation holds a virtual monopoly over our energy market, leaving Rhode Islanders with no alternatives and no power to fight back against unjust practices.
Here’s the problem “Monopoly Power”: With no meaningful competition, RI Energy can hike rates with little accountability. In 2023, Rhode Islanders saw electricity rates jump by over 40% in some areas, far outpacing regional averages.
It’s all about profits over people While families ration heat and small businesses struggle to stay afloat, RI Energy’s parent company reported $1.6 billion in net income last year. Meanwhile, executives pocket millions, and shareholders reap dividends—all funded by our bills.
It’s nothing but stalled progress: RI Energy continues to rely on fossil fuels, delaying investments in affordable renewables that could lower costs and protect our livelihoods.
We just moved here from PA. We significantly downsized with the move, yet the utility bill is 4 times higher than our home in PA. Something is wrong with RI Energy.
Green energy was supposed to help with lowering costs. Instead, the residents of RI are absorbing it after being misled by the people we put into office.
Rhode Island is supposed to be a beacon of Hope. Not dropping the anchor on our ability to live here. Congress, Governor Raimondo and Governor McKee, as well the appointed PUC should be ashamed as a government regulated monopoly of what they allowed an energy company from PA assist in pulling a fast one on us.
Thanks for last month's 1 time compromised rebate. Can't wait for the next middle finger to us RI residents when the smart meter bill comes!
As a single Mom this bill is way too high! We are both out of the house 6-8 hours a day, with the heat set at 62 degrees 5-6 days a week and my bill was $400 last month! It’s outrageous!
It’s a crime and total injustice what RI Energy and the PUC are doing to Rhode Islanders! The delivery charges are more than my gas and electric. Something must be done. RI Rnergy monopolizes the industry, not allowing Rhode Islanders to have a choice of suppliers. So wrong! How do they expect people to live? Greedy!
