I drive 179 to Shallowater daily. I have had so many people pull out in front of me from 50th st crossing 179. Also the 4 way stop on 179 and 34th street, people driving down 179 don’t easily see the stop sight and blow through the intersection. I believe stop lights (even though I think would be annoying) in these 2 areas would save lives.
Teenagers coming and going from Frenship High make up a large percentage of the traffic on 179. We have to care more about what happens to our kids and give them safer roadways.
I agree with putting a 4 way stop at the intersection of us state highway 2 and us state highway 59. I travel highway 59 daily and it makes me so nervous to come up to this intersection because I know how bad people are at even looking for the traffic not stopping or even the traffic that is not stopping to look and pay attention.. I really believe that a 4 way stop would benefit the tragic accidents that happen here
I agree putting a 4 stop at hwy 2 and us state hwy 59 is reasonable I drive this route daily to get to work and more times then not I have seen vehicles doing what are called “California stops” and proceeding it’s dangerous in that area and so many lives have been lost because of it.
For 40 years this intersection has made me nervous. One day I saw my guardian angel sitting next to me as I nearly hit a car that pulled out in front of me, while there was a loaded semi behind me. It was only by divine intervention no one crashed into anyone else at that moment. Terrified me to the point of tears. I nearly became one of the too many in very bad collisions there.
Put in a 4 way stop or traffic lights or something!
How many more have to die before something is done?
I drive semi along that route and I always slow down there in case someone runs the stop signs. I have witnessed it there. 1) The people I have personally seen have been elderly 2) Last years fatality involved an elderly man 3) Todays involved an elderly woman
Why NOT put a 4-way stop with TRAFFIC LIGHTS, lower speed limit before intersection with lighted Speed Limit signs and flashing Stop Ahead sign within a good stoping range from the intersection???
1) This will assist some that may not see as well as they used too
2) Will warn people to slow down before the intersection
3) Put the Hands Free in effect immediately!! Why wait until January to start issuing fines for this??? That’s insane!!
