It had to be around 2003 when we allowed our 3 year old, Jacob, pick out the ice cream flavor one night. To our chagrin, he picked Edy’s French Silk. We ate it and all fell in love. It was our default flavor for years. At 23, Jacob returned home after his enlistment in the USMC ended. As he was figuring out his path, starting college and working, he’d indulge in Edy’s French silk, as a stress reliever— even though he was lactose intolerant. Unfortunately, Super Bowl Sunday 2023, Jacob was taken from us in a car accident, driving home from getting dog food. I still have his carton of Edy’s French silk. I can’t throw it away, even though I know I need to. I looked for it in the store a few months ago later, and ever since, never seeing it. Tonight I searched and found it was discontinued. Maybe it was perfect timing. I miss him so much. And Edy’s French Silk.
This was a family favorite. We would take the kids to grammas house every Sunday and this would always be served after dinner. The few time my mom would buy a different brand or flavor of ice cream all the kids and grandkids would complain - don’t mess with our favorite!!! Please bring back our family memory back to us!!
This box mix was my brothers favorite dessert growing up. We made it every holiday and he has talked about this mix for years and no recipe online compares.
