I did not sit at a computer for hundreds of hours, giving up sleep while writing my heart and soul into my stories for a machine to steal it so one day it can replace my job and source of income.
AI is stealing from the creative industry and we’ve had enough!

Everything I did on windows I can on Linux— except for using creative software like this. The Affinity products have become vital tools for me, and I would love to continue using them in the future.

I opened my laptop hoping to do something quick, and windows started to update in the background. My corei7 with 48GB of ram came to a crawl and the only way I could tell why was looking at task manager. I had to wait an hour and reboot before I could use my computer. That's when I rage quit Windows. Forever.
There are only two pieces of software that I had to give up: Affinity suite and Altium Designer.
I run affinity in wine. It's very buggy and twitchy but I can do basic stuff. I don't think it would work to do more complex artwork. I make things like icons and logos mostly and even that is frustrating because the canvas constantly goes black until I drag it.
Having Affinity suite on Linux would be a wonderful experience for me. I realize it's a lot of work, but it opens the door to other platforms too. Like android. It's frustrating that Apple is still seen as the exclusive creative kid club. I want to be creative too, but I don't like apple products and I don't like windows.
Please reconsider roadmapping this. We can be patient! I know it will take years to accomplish.

When Affinity came around, I was thrilled and waited for these promising programs to be ported to Windows and Linux, since they were Mac-only in the beginning. However, after a successful Windows port, their lack of support or even consideration for the Linux community is baffling to me.

Actions like this not having a consequence is making it okay for others to pursue the same ideas and ultimately will lead to dangerous situations. If this was a man, there would have already been a stop put to this. These are teenagers and she’s seeking them out, that is a predator no matter how you twist it.

Authors put in years of work - years of blood, sweat and tears - to write their stories and to achieve their dreams of becoming authors and inspiring people and to actually be able to make a living from their work. Pirating pretty much destroys a lot of that. Authors lose money, especially indie authors like me. This has happened to big, traditionally published authors, and it's been terrible for them, not being able to make any money and so having their book deals almost canceled! So what about the smaller authors? Indie authors who don't exactly have this giant publisher to help? I will admit, I haven't been through the absolute worst of the worst. But I've heard and seen enough to know how harmful pirating books can be. And now having books removed from Amazon, for things we cannot even control?? That is just unfair. And I could say a WHOLE LOT MORE about this, but this should be enough for now.

When videos generated of people are indistinguishable from real life what will become of justice, what will happen to sexual assault victims? What content will be produced? What will happen to art when it is made by robots and not human hands, what will happen to our creativity and our connection? I worry for future generations, and I deeply worry for everyone, our freedom and our ability. It needs to be regulated, options for it in searches and creation need to be given so it can be removed. We have a right to not have AI created content and assistance in our lives.
