Born and raised in western rural Coweta County, I have grown to love this land and its wildlife greatly over the years. I have also watched on as an aggressive cancer poisons my home. In the last 4 years alone, I have watched many of the places I grew to love in this under-appreciated corner of the world get wiped away by insatiable development and greed. Now, the very existence of a "rural" portion of Coweta County is at risk. And for what, exactly? To make a small handful of people wealthy. The residents of Coweta County as a whole are living more stressful, unhappy, and dangerous lives than ever before as development, traffic, and crime all continue to rise. This project will benefit no one but the select few making millions from it at our expense. Make no mistake, implementation of ANY industry at the proposed location will bring a swift end to the peaceful way of life that is already struggling to survive here. Any Newnan resident reading this will relate to the existential dread that comes with signs for new development and land clearing. Additions of new subdivisions and apartment complexes have completely shifted the flow of traffic in areas that already have the infrastructure to support it, yet traffic in town continues to get worse every year. Imagine the impacts to two-lane roads like Wager's Mill, where kids wait for the bus on school mornings. The initial construction of the complex alone will make daily life miserable for years for locals, who will then have to deal with increased traffic and noise pollution indefinitely. According to the provided maps, several of the data centers will be right behind people's homes. These very people likely moved to this rural area to avoid the exact chaos that is now coming to their backyard! It is time for the people of Coweta County to put our collective foot down. Development has already ruined Newnan, don't let it ruin the remaining rural parts of the county too. Construction of this data center will set a precedent that rural Coweta County is for sale, and complete and utter destruction of what we value here will continue unimpeded.
We don’t have much of the country side that I grew up in here in Coweta County, the more you build the more of my heritage and home you take away. Please leave our land alone over here in West Coweta! Please!
As retired residents, we chose this side of the county to enjoy a quiet, peaceful home. We raised all of our children here and plan on staying here for the rest of our lives. We do not want our water supply contaminated, we chose well water when we built this house for a reason. We enjoy the wildlife and quietness of this area. Wildlife has lost enough of their habitat over the years of developments in this county. We do not want to listen to the noise this facility will put out. What is the purpose of having a beautiful state park put out here and now to destroy it as well? Our infrastructure cannot handle this type of facility and it is not needed here. Leave our side of the county the beautiful area it is! Consider what you are doing to us and the environment. Stop this now!
The beauty of the land and animals, including the air we breathe and longevity of life we desire to have is more important than this data center, which impacts all of the above mentioned concerns. We are tired of watching all the destruction happening already, and sure don’t need this too.
This data center would be across the street from my beautiful country home. I worked all my life for this home/land. Don’t want it destroyed by a huge plant.
I live right next to where this is about to happen. Not only will it be loud, it’ll ruin the landscape and won’t bring very much revenue. It’ll be horrible for the environment to demolish 80,000 acres just for a data center that isn’t going to do very much for the county.
As someone who was born and raised in Coweta County, it's been heartbreaking to see the demolition of so many trees and natural resources. I am a supporter of progress and development; however, these choices are being made to line the pockets of few in charge and have zero consideration in regards to infrastructure. We cannot continue to add and add without also considering quality of life.
This prospect of this data center is appalling. We fought for a state park to be recognized in Coweta only to have it potentially destroyed and polluted by the addition of this center.
Coweta is becoming inhospitable and uninhabitable. Decisions are made regardless of what the people actually want - the ones who voted the commissioners into office and are supposed to represent OUR needs and wants. Local government is pushing out its citizens by making these choices that make our quality of life go down.
My family and I vote NO to the data center.
We are absolutely not in favor of this monstrosity coming to our backyard. For centuries, the Western portion of Coweta County has been preserved, revered, and protected. In the last decade, thousands of our trees have been removed, land sold to developers, and forests with vital ecosystems stripped of their habitats. Right now, we are listed as a rural conservation. This data center calls for us to be classified as light industrial. As a steward of the good Lord and citizen of Coweta County, I am charged with using this land for its intended purpose, not to destroy its potential and growth for the sake of something temporary that will be obsolete in another decade. Please help our community put a stop to Project Sail!
I live off Wagers Mill and my children have the benefit of living in the country with quite living. Don't destroy what we have built to live a slower life.
Coweta county is a rural county. The county’s own stated objective is to continue the rural feel but data centers, shipping centers and other industrial complexes continue to be proposed. Please stop the erosion of our rural county.
