Late 2023 I was riding my bike in a BIKE LANE and was hit by a car not paying attention. It’s ridiculous how it’s sometimes more logical to ride in the middle of the road where people can see you instead of in the gutter on a city street. People have a narrow focus on what is around them and the safety on our streets is the lowest priority by far. How many red lights or stop signs do people witness cars ignoring and blow through.
It’s frustrating but with how populated Charlotte is, it’s difficult to manage.

Too many neighborhoods have no sidewalks for pedestrians and “cut through” traffic speeding through the streets. We have a “no turn on red” sign at an intersection near our home for when the pedestrian crossing is green, but cars run it every time even when I am crossing with my kids going to school. It’s very dangerous to be a pedestrian in Charlotte. Police need to enforce traffic safety laws.

I would love to see opportunities for them to continue challenging themselves in mountain biking at such a fine institution as my alma mater. Let's go, BYU!
