Public Facebook pages by schools and businesses are no longer viewable by the public without a Facebook account sign in. I never had a Facebook account, I created a NEW Facebook, filled out everything required/asked of me, tested it out on whether or not I could finally view my child's school's public Facebook pages, and I could, and within 5 minutes or so their Meta system disabled my brand new Facebook account without any reason given or a way to provided them with a written inquiry as to why they disabled my account. The Meta system only asked for an upload of my photo as an appeal, which I did, and they still disabled my brand new account that I only had for 5 minutes. I have not been able to find a way to contact Facebook directly about this situation to find out why they disabled a brand new account. Because of this, I still have no way to view Public Facebook pages associated with schools or businesses. Facebook needs to held accountable for their actions, as well as putting ALL Public Facebook pages back to being viewable to the general public.
I have read accounts from countless people who have suffered the same treatment as I have (suspended account) for the same exact reason (hackers attached an IG account to my FB and did something bad, getting my FB suspended) .There is NO WAY of contacting FB regarding this. They make all the money they possibly can, and don't give a S**T about our suffering from this ludicrous treatment.
December 2021, I went on Facebook to find 17 violations of community standards that made my account fall under “dangerous individuals and organizations” I have never done a single thing that violated community standards. My account was hacked. Because Instagram was connected that was lost too. 14 years of my life that I documented, spent so much time perfecting my Instagram, promoting my music (my artist page on Facebook) all the social connections I had made. Gone. I appealed. Nothing. The psychological and social impact this has had on my life is so massive I can’t even express it accurately.
I've had my Facebook account since 2006. There are a lot of memories lost. High school, college, work connections. Getting married, the birth of my son, the loss of my dad. This is a real gut punch to lose all of this.
I was an occasional user but started to use it more just in the last month or so as I started my own business. As soon as I paid to promote an event, this is when the phishing scam came through on the Meta Business App. If it had come through via FB or IG, I think I would have caught on. In the Meta Business App it looked legit. Admittedly I was busy at the time it came through and was distracted. I actually had to sit down at my computer later that evening and retrace my steps. That's when I realized I did click on an external link. My stomach dropped. I know better. I feel so embarrassed having been online promoting myself lately and actually had new customers and now it's like I've just disappeared. This looks terrible. This is also a reason why I haven't been on Facebook much ever. I know it's riddled with false information and scams. Since it's evolved so much, I honestly was having a hard time understanding how to manage it, linked accounts, advertising. They take advantage of new businesses. This is actually making me reconsider setting a new account. It just sucks that with business these days you need it. I'm trying to think of how else to market myself. It seems impossible without it.
Within minutes of me clicking on the link, my business page was offline. Then shortly after my personal account. Instagram has stayed active though and nothing seems to be fishy there yet, which is weird. I have since downloaded antivirus software on all my devices. I had it before and didn't realize it lapsed in January. I bet that would have helped. I've also blocked my credit card and will get a new one.
Mine was the same...threats that my business page would be deactivated. Linked to a fake IG account against their policy. A link to the policy. I downloaded the file and see the activity is linked to Vietnam. It all occurred within 20 mins. First my page, then my personal account went offline. I've submitted my appeal but it just feels like it's gone into the abyss. No one really responds. I have very little faith that I will ever get this account back. I feel like I am going through the stages of grief. Shock, anger, sadness, acceptance. This is devastating.
