This is a dangerous crossing street, there's an elementary school right up the street!! Something has to be done, there's children that wait for their bus on this street; there's also been multiple accidents at the light.
If nothing gets fixed or done something about; someone is liable to get hurt! No one stops for you at this light
What’s it gonna take for them to take this serious?! A fatality?! We don’t want anymore accidents!! These kids deserve safety more than anything. They live their days at school just to come out and be scared of what’s happening outside. Yet drivers and the city can’t even give them the safety, comfort, let alone the option, they deserve to walk across a street SAFELY. It’s saddening and infuriating.
Necesitamps mas seguridad para nuestros niños en la escuela ya este es el segundo niño accidentado, vamos a alsar nuestra voz y poner seguros a nuestros hijos en las escuelas...por favor hagan algo
My 13 year old grandson attends McDonough Middle School. On the morning of Tuesday April 22 while he was riding his bike to school a car hit his bike making him fall on the ground. The car didn’t stop at all to check on my grandson. I’m sure it could have been worse but God was watching over my grandson when this irresponsible person didn’t care for a human life.
It was early morning where the cars are not supposed to drive on that specific street because it is a one way during morning and during dismissal hours. I am very concerned for the safety and well being of all the students who attend McDonough Middle School and any other nearby schools as well. This must be taken very seriously. I’ve seen police officers standing in corners of the city watching construction workers, parked watching cars go by, sitting on their patrol cars etc, and why cant the City of Hartford assign a police officer to help and watch our City kids cross the street safely.
What is the mayor of Hartford doing to help ease the parents worrying about their children being hit by an automobile accident. This would have been avoided years ago. I’ll do whatever it takes for our kids safety.
No parents should ever receive a phone call from the school telling them that their kids have been hit by an automobile accident. I hope that the lady , if I can call her that, be caught soon. I hope someone saw this and thought of a family member and speaks out! I hope the cameras in the area have been inspected and investigated. Justice must be served!!
I cannot comprehend that our McDonough students, staff, and community have had to undergo the trauma of TWO horrific incidents of their classmates being hit by cars trying to get to/from school in 30 days and there’s a collective silence by our community leaders.
Again, TWO children have been hit by cars at ONE school within 30 days and the response is nonexistent. Instead, petitions have to be started to beg for responses and tangible change that should have been implemented immediately the first time. Or the second. Or third? How does a city know that one of their schools has had FIVE cases of students being hit by a car and yet here we are begging for support for their safety? This is shameful. This is unacceptable.
Leaders, we are past waiting — the time for action is now.
Our kiddos deserve better! It shouldn't be difficult or take years to put safety measures in place to protect the kids. Changes like this should be made by the city ASAP. Kids being hit by people driving in what should already be a school zone is ridiculously cruel and unnecessary. Fix it Hartford!
My father lives at SMC. He uses a walker and frequently walks across the street to get groceries etc. There needs to be a safer way for people to cross here.
