Victories in Coronavirus Epidemic

I know it has sometimes felt as if no one has cared; but I have been appalled by the injustice, from the arrest onward. After the perpetrator admitted to the crime, it became even more unbelievable to me that he would not be released. I participated with whatever efforts I have been aware of. I found this petition, by doing my periodic search--this time for "pardon for .."

One time during dinner, I was watching a video about Tyson Foods, and that was when I realized how cruel this company was. I saw disturbing videos of chickens drugged to death, I saw the horrible working conditions, and I saw the workers treating chickens like trash. I almost cried after watching the video, and it makes me feel guilty whenever I go to a fast food restaurant that uses Tyson's meat.

David Barnett’s story brought me to tears. He was 19 years old, was traumatized, had no support network, and was let down by every single person/resource available to him. He was a child . He was let down. This system has been letting us all down. It just deeply saddens me how prevalent sexual abuse towards children is in this culture and I feel like his story kind of highlights how the victims of these crimes suffer quietly while the aggressor has no consequences . Not addressing the source of this social ill (CHILD MOLESTATION AND CHILD ABUSE IF YOU ARENT SURE WHAT IM REFERRING TO) is leading to the perpetuation of these atrocities and the trauma cycles continue . David Barnett deserves to have parole hearings. Let’s try to make things a little bit better in this world?

What clinched this for me was the interview with his son's mother, AND, knowing the FACTS as I do (Because I'm not stupid... I did my research beyond Netflix, and, beyond the internet). He did not deserve a death sentence. But as far as the law goes, he did deserve life without parole. I can't think of any reason why I might understand what he did, but then, I haven't been through what he's been through. Those of "us" that have had beautiful childhoods can't even conceive what this man has been through. I keep thinking: what if it was my grandparents? My grandparents were my world. I thought I would die after they passed. But I can honestly say this: my grandparents wouldn't have believed me either, nor would they have listened to a word I had to say, had I been in his shoes. I, as I'm sure most people, can't even imagine. And this I believe is the problem: It is those of "us" who have no idea... "we" decided his fate, yet we have failed him his entire life. I have a feeling if he's granted parole, the hardest part about his life has yet to begin. His future isn't going to be easy. But we (us) owe him parole. Sincerely, Melissa Cummings Avila

Me and My wife just finished watching the episode about David. It had us disgusted and sick to our stomachs, hearing about the abuse and trauma he suffered as a child and young man. Recorded documents of abuse, his many attempts to get others to listen to the abuse he and his adoptive siblings endured under the care of that monster John Barnett. No one listened, no one intervened. The persons he thought truly loved him didn’t listen or believe him and that became too much for him to bear. We truly believe David didn’t intentionally mean to commit these crimes, his last plea for help for himself and others, swatted away like a fly and his already fragile mind ( from the abuse ) completely snapped. We believe David deserves a second chance at life and should be eligible for parole, the system definitely owes him that because it failed him time and time again and it’s the system that failed him that put him in this situation to begin with.

I believe this man has paid his dues and deserves another chance at life because his childhood was taken from him.iI believe he is sincere.

My Mom Dad and two uncles worked at the Us Post Office at various times and for many years. It used to be a place that one could take pride in working at. It was always hard work, often mandatory overtime, poor hours but one could support their families and know they were providing essential, sometimes life-saving service. Even today with the Internet for some older, rural or poor citizens it still their main lifeline to the larger world. Please don't destroy the Post Office for political, financial or petty reasons. Thank you.

I rely on my daily trips to our post office. I write at least one letter every day. Reaching others by mail is an extremely important part of my life. Please do not strip us of this basic human need!

It is heartbreaking what is happening to the country, to the USPS, to the services that keep us afloat. These things are the invisible glue that holds us together. Why have a government if it is not going to act in the interest of the people? If it is meant only to serve the interests of the likes of Trump and Musk, of the haves against the have nots? It's idiocy. It's plain greed and corruption, there for everyone to see. Leave the USPS alone. Leave it to the people, where it belongs.

I was part way through getting my claim fixed and they decided to hang up on me without explanation. Pushing the money that I need to simply just survive further and further away. The system NEEDS to change.
