The topic of commutation of sentence addresses the issue of reducing or lessening a criminal sentence, typically for reasons such as rehabilitation, clemency, or changes in laws or circumstances. Petitions under this topic often advocate for fair and just sentencing, especially for individuals who may have received harsh or unjust punishments.
One notable petition calls for the commutation of sentences for non-violent offenders serving lengthy prison terms, highlighting the need for reform in the criminal justice system. Another petition urges the authorities to consider clemency for individuals who have shown remorse and made efforts towards rehabilitation during their time in prison.
By exploring and supporting these petitions, you can contribute to the movement for criminal justice reform and help ensure that sentences are proportionate and equitable. Your involvement can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by unjust sentencing practices.
I am writing this message in support of my friend, Angel Ortiz, as he seeks a second chance at freedom. I had the honor of meeting Angel years ago, and from the very beginning, he left a lasting impact on my life. His guidance, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to personal growth have been truly inspiring, and I can say with confidence that he is a changed man who has more than earned the opportunity to rejoin society.
Angel is not only an incredible individual with a great personality, but he is also one of the most humble and genuine people I have ever met. He cares deeply for others and has dedicated himself to personal transformation, using his experiences to uplift those around him. Through years of self-reflection and participation in self-help programs, Angel has gained invaluable insight into accountability, responsibility, and the importance of community safety.
He now understands the role laws play in protecting our communities and has fully embraced a new way of thinking—one that prioritizes positive contributions to society. His personal growth and dedication to change make it clear that he is not the same person he once was. Given the opportunity, I have no doubt that Angel will continue to be a force for good, using his experiences to mentor and support others on their own paths to transformation.
For these reasons, it is my hope that you grant Angel Ortiz a commutation. He has proven through both his words and actions that he is ready to return to society as a positive, contributing member.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Javier Banos
I am writing this in complete support of my friend Angel Ortiz because I know him and have worked closely with him and know his character and true change and believe he is in every way a person who prison has served its purpose. He is a man who takes full responsibility for what he did and has everything to change any and everything that led to his crimes and to be a great human being and leader today in living with compassion and care. He has true remorse for not only his crime and its consequences and the ripple effects of it, including the terrible harms he inflicted on so many and the families he hurt but on the whole community and this remorse is part of the major reason he is a new man today and lives in a brand new way that speaks clearly of change and love and respect and compassion for all others. He has a long consistent history of a turning point, true character development and change that is clear and consistent for years. I worked along side this man in the creation of a youth diversion program where he gave his all to help in every way possible to achieve the goals of the group and in sharing openly his personal journey and life in a way that truly helped and spoke to young people and helped them. He is a man who I know will honor the opportunity to prove himself with a commutation and through the parole board process and no doubt the honorable commissioners will immediately see this man qualifies in every way possible for a second chance. And when he is given that chance he will without doubt give back for the rest of his life and make us all proud. Please give him that opportunity. Thank you for your time.
I am writing to wholeheartedly support Angel Ortiz's application for commutation. I have had the privilege of knowing Angel for four years, and I can confidently attest to their exceptional character, remarkable growth, and dedication to rehabilitation.
During their incarceration, Angel has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to self-improvement, participating in various educational and vocational programs. Their transformation is a testament to their resilience, determination, and desire to become a positive force in society.
Angel's release would not only be a well-deserved second chance but also a valuable opportunity for them to contribute to their community. They have a strong support system in place, ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing the risk of recidivism.
I firmly believe that Angel has served sufficient time and has demonstrated the necessary rehabilitation to warrant commutation. Their release would be a just and compassionate decision, reflecting the values of redemption and second chances that our society strives to uphold.
I have an innocent son on Death Row for 30 years, we are getting ready for an Innocent Motion to be granted.
As like any family of friends of these type of sentencing, it's very hard.
Hang in there. Donna
I believe in second chances and I believe God created prisons for rehabilitation not a forever thing. My Son has been personally involved with this young man and first handily seen his rehabilitation and recovery from his mistakes and is excited to see him back into society flourishing. God bless this family and Brother and for second chances
This is not a case where someone should be denied the chance to prove their growth and redemption. Vardan Abramyan has spent nearly two decades taking responsibility, educating himself, and helping others heal. He deserves the opportunity to show the world the person he has become. Everyone deserves a second chance.
Everyone makes mistakes, and God gives us infinite chances so long as one fully repents. So why shouldn’t we give second chances? That is what God asks of us - to forgive as He forgives. Praying for your second chance!!
