I knew Kofi's family and at the time of his sentencing, felt sure that he was truthful in his account of what happened. While he committed the common mistake of many young people of being in the wrong company at the time of behavior that led to violence and loss of life, he did not directly contribute to that loss of life. I would strongly advocate, Governor Holcomb, that you demonstrate your true compassion and honest leadership by granting clemency to Kofi Ajabu, who I guarantee will live up to the faith of his family by contributing to society in meaningful and caring ways if he is determined to have paid the price for his mistake. I feel confident that the families of the victims of his mistaken presence at a crime scene would agree with me. Please consider our request as part of your legacy as a governor who led our state with integrity.

Second chances were created for situations like this, and for people like Kofi. He deserves one and has a huge support system waiting to embrace him as he starts the next chapter of his life.
Debo is an inspiration to other prisoners, a leader, a mentor, and a friend. He has miraculously maintained his heart and soul in an impossible environment, reading, bettering himself, learning several languages, and waiting for the day when the world will champion his cause. Please support his clemency and help this fine man, innocent of the crimes he is imprisoned for, walk free again.
