Hi there, I’m a 17-year-old group owner on VRChat, and I take the safety of minors in my community very seriously. I understand and fully support the need to protect minors from predators — it’s extremely important. But the way this issue is being handled feels unfair and misguided. Making VRChat an 18+ platform might seem like a solution on the surface, but in reality, it punishes responsible minors and younger players who are just here to have fun, build friendships, and create safe spaces. Meanwhile, predators — the real problem — will still find ways to access the platform by lying about their age or creating fake accounts. Removing minors won’t stop them. What’s even more concerning is that this approach could also drive away a large part of the adult user base. Many adults are uncomfortable with having to submit government ID just to access a social game. It raises serious privacy, safety, and trust concerns. Not everyone wants to hand over personal documents to a company they may not fully trust — especially for a game that is meant to be a creative and social outlet. So not only would VRChat lose its younger user base, but it could also lose many adults who refuse to verify their identity for valid reasons. This could lead to a massive drop in the platform’s population and income — and ultimately harm the community as a whole. Instead of blanket age restrictions, I believe VRChat should focus on catching and banning the actual predators, invest in stronger moderation tools, and support communities that actively work to keep users safe, like mine. It’s not fair to punish the entire platform — especially the ones trying to do the right thing — because of a small number of people who choose to abuse it.

I've been a part of VRChat since 2014 early development logs due to being invited by the former development team, Through the years, I've non stop seen the environment become more and more unstable and unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18. Logging data from all the way back to 2016 when they allowed users to start uploading completely NSFW models into the platform un moderated. I've actively seen so many inappropriate situations with adults and minors on the platform its honestly disgusting, To the point where I've actively been working on self moderating the instances I'm a part of trying to do what seems parents have no knowledge about. I'm aware that not everyone will agree with separating the servers into age gated versions, But with a platform that's become infamous for allowing these kind of actions its almost needed at this point as there is no alternative. With the addition of a paywall for age verifying to the current version of the platform they've only allowed for these predators to actively seek out their next victims and have actively denied several instances of actions being taken by ACTIVE users with documentation. I simply wish the best for the safety of our community and the safety of innocent souls being tormented by the mental abuse going on in the platform.

While I don’t want vr chat to become strictly 18+ plus I do acknowledge with my short time and that it might be coming to a end if vr chat kicks minors out that there are some predators that harass and try to date minors and thar should stop. I think M for mature is a better option, I also think age verification should be free to all members so everyone could verify their age so they can get back to 18+ plus instances if they can’t pay to have vrc+ and to where there isn’t a confusion with a minor and a adult.

I remember VRChat being 18+ years ago before I started playing, with online threats it's more important to make sure children (5yrs to 17yrs) are protected. Happy to sign this as we need to make VRChat ADULTS ONLY. Heck I'd even suggest a "VRChat LITE" for the little ones and once you turn 18 and verify you'll be able to play regular VRChat.

I'm well known in the Metaverse as someone who has helped to run numerous adult places in both Second Life and VRChat, in Second Life we have a similar issue where kids manage to get into adult places, it's less common due to age restrictions put in place on land and the marketplace but it still happens when kids think rules don't apply to them and they give a fake date of birth or use someone else's ID to verify or when predatory adults make accounts for the children so they can sneak them in. It needs to stop and the only way to stop this is to start making these apps 18+. Also on top of this I've witnessed kids come into SFW instances and start swearing or throwing slurs around.

I do believe vrchat is now unsafe for kids I've ran into several people who go after kids even one of my old friends who I thought I could trust age 33 lied about a lot i found out by some people sharing convo screenshots my now ex friend is serving 25 years in prison but there are still people like him that are hiding making kids in danger hint is why vr chat should be 18 + only by account signup

As someone who was once a young person on vrchat, who is now an adult, I want to protect the younger people I know and care about from the weirdos I know are out there. I want them to have a safe place, yes, but i feel like vrchat isn't a perfect place for them.

Subject: Concerns Regarding Conduct and Accountability of Jocelyn Auger I express serious concerns regarding the conduct and decision-making of Jocelyn Auger, as well as the systemic lack of accountability observed among various levels of the educational administration in matters involving my child and others. There have been multiple instances in which discriminatory actions were taken against my daughter, who lives with complex medical needs related to Type 1 Diabetes. These include, but are not limited to: A refusal to receive or participate in training on diabetes management, even when a certified educator was offered at no cost to the school. A prolonged refusal to revise a critical medical care plan, despite evidence that the outdated version was negatively impacting my daughter's physical and mental well-being. Inappropriate and unfounded accusations that my daughter was "not treating" her blood sugar, made by untrained staff. I have documentation showing that her blood sugar levels were never in a dangerous range that day, and that she was effectively managing a stubborn high under my guidance. Efforts to "educate" my daughter using fear-based tactics about the dangers of untreated hypoglycemia, without any prior consultation with myself—despite my daughter's thorough understanding of her condition since early childhood. Intimidation and threats, including the possibility of banning me from school premises, for urgently requesting that her care plan be revised prior to an arbitrary "communication meeting" that delayed appropriate action for two months. In addition to these issues, Ms. Auger has demonstrated a troubling pattern of avoiding accountability and parental involvement. She has: Refused to permit children to call home when they request parental assistance. Used isolation from class and placement in her office as a disciplinary measure, without notifying parents. Acted contrary to pre-arranged plans discussed with parents on the same day. Displayed visible anger when parents arrive to support their children, treating such involvement as unwelcome or disruptive. Attempts to collaborate and offer constructive education on managing my daughter's condition have been met with resistance, deflection, and at times, hostility. Ms. Auger has engaged in behavior that includes gaslighting, veiled threats, and reputational smearing, all of which appear intended to dissuade parents from pursuing necessary accountability or advocating for their children's well-being. It is deeply concerning to witness a school leader using tactics that prioritize institutional control over the health and safety of students. I respectfully request that these matters be reviewed at the highest level, and that immediate steps be taken to ensure transparency, proper training, and a culture of collaboration between families and staff moving forward.
