Dogs are the most loyal friends we can have. They would put their lives on the line for their human companions, without hesitation. We cannot allow such a betrayal to our most loyal friends by allowing such cruel abuse to happen and, what's more, to continue.
The burning and torture and what these monsters are doing to dogs and any animals needs to stop! This is murder. They need to be held accountable and prosecuted for these crimes like anything else. It’s common sense. No one has a right to hurt any innocent living being. We need to stand up for the voiceless and end this violence immediately.
Working on this block while Deadbolt is open is a hazard and an inconvenience. Multiple times we’ve have had to close early and lock patrons inside our business due to an ongoing brawl that had spilled out of Deadbolt. Co-workers have had to escort our patrons out or out the back emergency exit. This incident above is the second active shooting during business hours. People are now starting to avoid this block because of the aggressive behavior outside of Deadbolt, which is hurting our business and many others on the block. Our place of business is always full of our own friends and staff, I don’t want these people to have to fear coming to a place they consider very safe. We had people standing outside our bar during this shooting and could have easily been hit by stray bullets. Close this place already.
El Charro and Two Way Lounge were better, safer, and brought a better vibe to that corner. The corporate takeover of bars/restaurants makes the neighborhoods less cool and less safe. We can’t keep letting lame businesses open in the area just because it’s “trendy” and a “hot” neighborhood. The residents of the neighborhood do not frequent any of the three businesses. When you have to be wanded and patted down to enter why would you want to go? I’m not trying to get shot over stepping on someone’s Jordan’s or talking to someone’s girl. I already lived thru the 80’s and 90’s in Chicago.
My best friend was violently assaulted at this bar on April 4, 2025. She was attacked by a man, left with deep gashes in her head that required emergency staples, and was thrown out of the bar—bleeding and in shock—without a single person offering help or calling for medical attention.
This bar has a long-standing reputation for violence, yet no action has ever been taken. The lack of accountability and basic human decency shown that night is unacceptable. It’s time to shut this place down before more people get hurt.
Recently, there was a celebrity event at this bar (I will not name the celebrity.) During the event there was a fight that not only put the celebrity in danger but put everyone in danger as an innocent bystander got knocked out and started bleeding. The bar didn’t do anything to ensure anyone was ok, the event continued, no police were called and no one was kicked out. I tried to a safe spot of the bar but the employees wouldn’t let me because that spot was only for employees. That shouldn’t have mattered at the point of violence happening. F*** Deadbolt, I’ll never go here again.
This bar has a disgusting history of violence against women. A dear friend of mine was brutally assaulted at this bar, which required emergency medical attention. This place is extremely dangerous for patrons and should be shut down IMMEDIATELY to prevent further violent attacks on innocent people, as the owner(s) and staff clearly will do nothing to prevent or stop it.
On April 4, 2025 I was sexually harassed & physically assaulted by a group of men inside this bar. After losing consciousness from being hit, thrown down, and kicked in the head I was grabbed and taken out of the bar while covered in blood. Security offered no help or concern, and I later ended up at the emergency room to have my head stapled up. This bar is a danger to many, especially women who have been victims of multiple violent incidents at Deadbolt. By allowing this place to remain open we are only waiting for the next victims. I’m asking City Council to close this establishment to protect the Logan Square community.
People should be able to enjoy a night out without fearing if they will return home at the end of the night. Also, withholding surveillance footage is extremely despicable and it goes without saying, this establishment should not be open if they are not going to abide by the law and provide the information needed for people to receive justice.
