Im a homeowner and a widow at 58 years and old. I still have a lot of life ahead. Even though I own my home outright I would be devastated both financially and emotionally if this happened to me. I dont have the money to hire an Attorney if I had to. I have enough savings for an emergency repair on my home. These laws need to change. Im so thankful they did in Florida. My Mom comes to New England to stay with me every summer. She was 80 yo when she had to stop coming for 2 years because the squatters were so bad there she was afraid to lose her home. Thank God these laws changed im Florida so we are now able to spend summers together again. This needs to happen in every state. These are entitled people who have money and jobs. These are not desolate people who are homeless 90% of the time. Share this petition to everyone you know .

This NEEDS TO CHANGE in our legal system NOW! Squatters are liars & thieves and have NO PLACE doing this to anyone, rich or poor!*Let's all get more involved too - search for your local representatives (house & senate) and tell them this is needed ASAP*

We are STILL in the eviction process. This has to stop. They owe us so much money and they continue to try and find ways to screw us. Someone seriously needs to do SOMETHING. I can’t even have vacationers here, which hinders my ability to run my business. It is shocking it’s gotten this far that we have no one to call except a lawyer. I’m tired of paying for people who contribute nothing to society! Beyond frustrating.
Janna a soutenu : Change Squatter Laws “Help make squatting in residential maintained homes criminal”I own multiple properties in Southern California, I had bad experiences with squatters took my land and sub-lease my vacant land to the Mexican drug cartel. The entire time I was living in Sacramento, I did not visit my land but the Code Enforcement and the Sheriff did that when they discovered the cillegal cultivation and I was notified. I worked closely with the Codes and Sheriff, I gave the power to the Law Enforcement to do their job but nothing was done. So I took matter into my own hands by notified the Sheriff that I needed their escort to my property. With the Sheriff assistant, the drug cartel were surprised. They told the Sheriff that the owner (he) lives outside CA and that they were managing the property for the owner Free of charge. They Sheriff then told them that the owner is not a he but is a she. And from there they were given 5 minutes to move out or they will be arrested. They left right away, but they returned later same daily tried to negotiate with me, I made their life's a living hell and the Sheriff were called and escorted off my property. Since I have not seen them but I still do not trust what I will run into in the future. I am more than willing to support you to push the new law to protect our hard earned money.

My father died of cancer and he had a squatter living in his childhood home. I then had to take over while grieving and had to deal with an evil Disney obsessed woman and her multiple reckless adult children. Plus she was subletting half the house. She never paid rent ever. Had to hire a lawyer, go to court. Everything was backed up for months upon months. She waited until lockout took place to move out. She owes over 60k. She moves out and left the whole house ripped to shreds. Left so much crap behind. Piles of Dog piss and crap. Then she sold all my appliance's. Oh she never paid any of her bills or trash so when I tried selling the house, I was held responsible. She never even got her wages garnished. While cleaning out the house I found multiple fake SS #’s. There was piles of mail from other lawyers who were taking her to court for previous squatting. She just keeps moving from place to place. Changes her identity. Pays first month and then lives/trashes your home for the next 2/3years. Moves onto the next victim. She’s been doing this for YEARS. Professional tenants need to go to jail.
