I knew Marcos for years as our pest control man, and he was cheerful, warm, easygoing and absolutely one of the nicest people I knew. I only learned of his death because we suddenly had a new serviceman, and it was a gut punch to hear what happened. This is a sickening tragedy that needs resolution; punishing the teen isn't enough- the teen needs to perform community service, and speak to young drivers about what he did.
Best to the families, and know that they touched many lives, and will be remembered. Glasses raised.
I have been around elderly drivers on the road and it's a hazard for them to be out now more than ever that there are reckless drivers every where. It's scary to think they could get yelled at or crashed into because the drivers not paying attention or the elderly driver no longer has quick reflexes.
As an OR RN, I have worked at numerous facilities across the US and support the necessity of having a Level I trauma center on the Big Island. Safe, efficient and effective care should be available to every person that lives or visits Hawaii period.
Level 1 Trauma centers can do great things but only if you have one. As a former ER RN of 35 years(many in a level 1) I'd like to see a level 1 trauma center on the Big Island. With the amount of motor vehicle collisions here and the prolonged transport times, we are losing lives of locals and tourists alike. The transport times could be greatly mitigated with helipad/helicopter transports. At times, people in the Puna area have transport times of an hour/hour and a half by ground due to vehicle traffic.
Please write a Certificate of Need for our Big Island people to have a trauma center. Mrs. Ruth Love
This is very important I lost my Granddaughter and Niece. Tgd suspect is still living his life with no consequences, my daughter has to endure the pain and sadness EVERYDAY it's very hard for her just to make it through the day. As of now we were told no charges will be filed so he gets to continue with his life. DA is very soft and doesn't care said this was her decision and that's final with no sympathy for us.
