My loved one has only been at this prison (FCI Thomson) for about a year and some change and honestly the majority of the time he's been there he's been on lockdown; for reasons that truly need to be investigated. This prison i infamous for several deaths and abuse in a special housing unit (shu) that was shut down after a major investigation. They have a record of this yet, they are allowed to remain open, even while severly short staffed and untrained. It's not just the correction officers it's also the counselors who don't properly put paper work in, or even know what paperwork to put in for specific inmates (especially those from DC). How this is allowed to continue and go unchecked is a clear violation of HUMAN RIGHTS, laws aren't being followed by those in charge and it seems like no one cares, the complaints go overlooked, and un addressed. If Trump wants to clean up the federal government, I think the Bureau of Prisons would be a great place to look at. This agency needs major reform. Amd the people working at FCI Thomson need to be put under investigation. ASAP
My son has been at Thompson for about a year, but he has been through several lockdowns in this short time. The lockdowns seem to last for days on end, with no word from my son. And no word why they are on lockdown, or how long the lockdown will last. And after the lockdowns, no one seems to know why they were locked down. If they do know, no one is willing to say.
No doubt, this has to be frustrating for the inmates. I know it has been frustrating for me! I can't imagine! I pray something is done soon to fix this issue, along with a few other issues. We have to be the voices for our loved ones who are incarcerated and aren't able to speak up for themselves like we can do for them.
