These vulnerable children are desperately in need of appropriate therapeutic support, to have this taken from adoptive families jeopardises their futures. Their pasts were damaging enough, let’s not take their futures as well!
Occupation and working with others is crucial for people with mental health problems. Redhall offers a huge opportunity for people to learn new skills, develop confidence and overcome the stigma usually accorded to people with psychological problems.
Unbelievable that Redhall Garden is threatened with closure when the staff there provide such a wonderful therapeutic space for people experiencing mental health issues. How can it be that this valuable service will no longer be funded when the amount of people with mental health issues is on the increase?
Redhall Garden is a very special outdoor space where people experiencing mental health issues can benefit greatly from working in the garden alongside the extremely supportive staff there.
It would be disastrous if funding is cut for this service!
The fact the we as a society still don't prioritise mental health services is incredible to me.
These cuts show short-term vision, and would be disastrous for many. Mental health services need investment, not cuts.
The BHS in Scotland is failing people daily, the third sector is doing a great job in attempting to plug the gap that all of our taxes seem to allow to only get bigger! So much of a need for adequate mental health services, nevermind good.
When you save one person, you actually save hundreds and a considerable amount of money!
Redhall Walled Garden has been pivotal in my healing journey—transforming my life from mere survival to where I can finally begin to thrive. My story could have ended far worse, but through the dedicated efforts of the team at Redhall, I've experienced a miraculous change. This transformation was achieved through cold water therapy, yoga, meditation, and gardening activities, all of which played a crucial role. Having my own small plot to grow vegetables and flowers has been more than just a hobby; it’s been a lifeline. Yet, I realize that many in our community who benefit from such activities feel voiceless. I am raising awareness on their behalf.
In Edinburgh, wellbeing activities are facing devastating funding cuts, threatening the very services that have aided countless individuals like me. Across our city, initiatives that promote mental and physical health are at risk due to these cuts. Places like Redhall Walled Garden, with its nurturing environment, serve as sanctuaries for individuals dealing with a variety of well-being challenges.
Cutting funding to these essential programs will not only dismantle the paths to recovery and growth but also ignore the basic needs of those who depend considerably on them. Reports suggest that community-based activities significantly reduce the burden on mental health services.
