Heavy rains happen every year, El dorado PKWY West floods. If a medical emergency happens we will be on the short end of the stick. The board should think that some day you will be old enough to think about medical emergencies and I hope none of you have to be appealing like we all are. Save the bridge.
The City is getting funds from the Federal Government, 80% for the repair.
Back in 2022 when it was damaged from Ian it was closed for a period of time, no repairs were done. The City all of a sudden opened the bridge 6 months later. Hurricanes from last year did no additional damage to the bridge, the City closed the bridge again saying that there was damage, Not True.
That bridge needs to stay open for hurricane evacuation purposes, fire rescue , and a more even flow of safe traffic in the area.
I live on SW 52nd street. I go over this bridge several times a day. The loss of this bridge would be very inconvenient and cause a lot of traffic through the El Dorado Pkwy area that is all residential. Please fix the bridge. I do not see any reason to do a complete replace. Just fix it and fix it soon. It is already a big inconvenience not being able to make the turn on my own street the way they have it blocked now.
