Pet rent is ridiculous rent is already sky high and now it makes things even harder and forces people who let go of their beloved pets and creates more of an issue for animal shelters due to pet rent 1000s of dogs a year are put down because shelters are over ran. Families are already struggling to make ends meet and pet rent on top of paying a deposit is just greedy and unjustified. It shouldn't be allowed renters already deal with 80% of landlords being slum lords we shouldn't have to work to death just to have a roof over our heads and keep our fur babies.

Having and enforcing standards to protect the health and wellness of the animals is necessary. Health of the dogs, health of the puppies, prevention of health issues by not allowing inbreeding, limiting litters so that the parents can heal and have a good quality of life, breeders being registered, proper vet care, not allowing pets to be dumped afterwards, vetting buyers and homes to prevent bad people from buying or adopting under false pretenses and then mistreating the animals, therefore enabling a cycle of cruelty and neglect.

It was considered a no-kill shelter yet we still had to euthanize because sickness or injury or behavior due to being stray or owner surrendered. Breeding needs to stop. The amount of pets that get euthanized every single day in the UNITED STATES is absolutely TERRIBLE, GUT WRENCHING AND ABSURD. DO BETTER AMERICA!! Make this legislation federal!!!

Some see them as a tool....a way to cash in.... they don't care for them. I saw this first hand at an Amish farm in Honeybrook, PA. Dogs were NOT cared for. One dog running around outside of the kennel enclosure was swallowing a long piece of plastic! I gently pulled it from its mouth/throat so it would not choke. Dogs in so-called outside kennels stood on what I thought was chain-linked fencing so their paws would be very uncomfortable and damaged. It was pathetic. It would make anyone cry.

It’s sad to see the irreparable damage that breeding without proper veterinary care can cause in such innocent creatures. Our most recent companion 3PO was rescued from breeders in a parking lot. She was obviously not from the same litter compared to the other pups and was huddled in a corner depressed. After questioning the breeders, their only response was “no one wants her bc she’s ugly and the runt”. Not only that but they cropped her tail down to 1/2 an inch when she’s a POODLE mix. I can’t imagine what they would’ve done, had we not taken her in since they weren’t making profit from her. These kind of situations are why breeders need to be held accounted for.

This hurt her health and ability to live a normal life. Breading illegally is inhumane and morally wrong.

Our shelters and rescues are constantly beyond capacity with unwanted animals. Please don't allow people to add to the problem by creating more animals who will eventually come to overpopulate shelters. The shelters and rescues are working so hard to save lives, and every time a breeder brings new a animal into the world they are decreasing the chances that the already suffering shelter pets will find loving homes.
