I signed this petition because every dog deserves a chance at life. Our canine companions aren’t just animals—they’re family, with hearts full of love and loyalty, and they deserve better than to be written off too soon. It breaks my heart to know that so many gentle souls are being lost at the Chicago City Pound without a fighting chance to find a forever home.
But our commitment to animal rights needs to go further than just saving dogs from premature death. I strongly believe that our state should step up and make it illegal to euthanize any animal that isn't truly at the end of its life. Animals who have potential for recovery, adoption, or rehabilitation must be given every opportunity to live, rather than being discarded because of a broken system. We need a humane approach that truly honors the dignity of every life.
