Many Animal Jam classic players like myself have lost their original accounts with an array of rare items in our collections that we no longer have access to. For AJHQ to remove spiked collars out of The Forgotten Desert after the mass data breach terminating accounts is absolutely crazy. It's gotten to the point where people are selling stuff like spiked collars for real USD or money. Nobody should be selling pixels from a kid's animal game to put food on the table. I understand we have a real-world financial inflation going on but this does not mean Animal Jam should be reflecting real-world economics. It's a kids game! And many of us older players have returned to our beloved childhood computer game to escape the real world. Like who on earth would want to play a game that reflects real-world issues and tragedies? We play games to escape reality not to emulate it.

AJ has been such a fun game. I've played for years and I still love it with all my heart, but despite that the game has been just removing features and rarely ever adding any. It's honestly gotten boring, nothing much different expect maybe a new item. I think they should add more updates to the game and I think a great start with be to add things that were previously in the game. Also the devs should stop removing items from stores in the first place, it makes people more able to manipulate the prices of these items that are no longer here. (Eg. accordion which used to be 400 gems for memers)

Any long time player of Animal Jam knows what a crucial role trading plays in the game and after the removal of spike collars from The Forgotten Desert, the economy has become absolutely insane. As they are increasingly more rare, players are hardly able to get spikes which leads to players hoarding them and hardly accepting any trades for them. This has also resulted in spikes being sold for outrageous prices in diamond shops. A single black long spike is now up to 1000 diamonds of in game worth which is absolutely unacceptable. If you were to purchase one of these black long spike collars, you would need to buy the biggest pack of diamonds from the AJ shop (75 diamonds), which retails at $23.95 14 TIMES. This is $335 in real world money (before tax) just to get the ONE spike collar that most players dream of. This is a children’s game and with AJHQ really standing up & enforcing their rules to make it a child-friendly place, they also need to do something to fix the economy and worth of their items so that the children they are optimizing the game for can also attain these items. A great way of doing so would be putting spike collars back into The Forgotten Desert adventure, as then players would still need to work to earn these spikes by going on the adventure & then more spikes would be in circulation thus helping the overall economy. The best part of playing Animal Jam as a kid was trading up for my dream items, but this is just not really attainable with how the game currently is. Something needs to be done.

I loved this game as a kid and I lost so so many rare items in the data breach along with so many other people. That was the reason I quit. I started playing again recently and it has become basically impossible to trade your way up. THE PEOPLE WANT THE COLLARS BACK!!!

Coming back to the game and finding out pink longs (one of my dream items as a kid, and even now) are now worth more than a solid is kind of heart breaking.. Adding spikes back into TFD through ground chests is still really chancey, so its not a guaranteed or a way they can be cheated in easily. Also, I am 90% sure adding them back would increase server activity and get people playing again.

I have always loved this game. Returning after many years to see how unfriendly the “economy” is to new players has been disheartening. I have even seen players dropping real money on purchasing items from ebay. For it being such a big issue and against animal jams terms of service, they make it more likely for this issue to happen because rares are unobtainable.
