Jailing hens in sunless industrial facilities and confining them to small cages is cruel, unjust treatment. There is never a moment of joy or comfort for these unfortunate animals stuck in these fece-laden, fetid environments. Little wonder bird flu has become so rife in these places of stress and misery. They need time outdoors in the fresh air and sunlight.
Hens suffer up to 30 hours of cage confinement for each egg they lay. They cannot spread their wings. They have strong desires to express their natural behaviors: dusbathing, perching in trees at night, exploring the environment, and building social groups, but in a cage, they are deprived of all of these. They want to find a private and safe place to lay their egg, but they can't, they have to do it cramped next to the other hens. Wings are an appendage that is the physical manifestation of freedom. It's perverse and tragic to cage a bird. Chickens are intelligent, sensitive, social animals. Letting them out of the cages is the very least we can do for them.
I eat meat and dairy products but don't like to see any animal suffer. We owe all these creatures respect and humane treatment. That is why I no longer frequent KFC; all KFCs in Ontario except for Thunder Bay and Ottawa are supplied with Halal butchered chickens. This should not be allowed in this country.
Denying a hen her natural behavior is nothing less than animal torture. Imagine living in a cage without room to spread your arms. You would literally go crazy. Well, hens react similarly. Hens are often viewed as an egg-laying machine and nothing else. That does not mean they don't suffer both physically and psychologically when abnormally confined. Human beings should be better than cruel custodians of other species. We use hens for our own purposes and do not care for the animal on any level except as a thing. "A country can be judged by how it treats its animals." a quote from an unknown source. To torture another animal is inexcusable. We must be better than that.

Chickens are sentient, intelligent and feeling beings, not objects to be used for what humans want without even taking a moment to learn and acknowledge what the chickens are going through to provide for us.
My 3 girlfriends and I walk along the seafront Monday to Friday. Seeing the playful otters going into the sea to fish and returning to the culvert to their home brings us much joy. They must be helped when our help is needed.
How we collectively treat the most innocent and vulnerable creatures on the planet is a direct reflection of what we are as a society. I want to live in a world where we look to reduce suffering as much as possible, especially for animals.
My belief is , any animal a person adopts they better make sure first they have the money and can afford the pet and give it the best life ever that means good food water a roof over their heads, when the Animal is sick, make sure you can afford to look after it. Don’t just ignore the sick Animal but even if you take him to the veterinary clinic and they say oh this is wrong and it’s gonna cost you 1000 or more you better make damn sure you have the money to do that because it’s not the animals fault it got sick and somebody else might’ve adopted that animal and was willing to spend whatever amount of money on them to save them. I am one of those people . But the most important thing is you make sure you have time for your pet and that you love it unconditionally like you would for your children and a family member or even your friends but again I’ll say animals are so much better than humans
I have four cats and 6 chickens and they are all my babies. I never had kids and these are my kids and I will protect them just as much as people protect their children or family and I’ll starve to death before I would have them be sick or go hungry .
As far as he’s don’t know if I’m allowed to say it but bastards that harm, kill, starve and a few animals or kill them for amusement they need to be held accountable because if you do it to a child there’s a damn good chance you’re going to jail so this has to happen to people because if someone is sent to jail for animal abuse, and neglect they should have a certain amount one or two years after to serve but if they kill an animal, then they should have to serve 3 to 5 years because the hoping that is that they will come back out and not ever abuse or own. An animal again. It’s a known fact that anyone who beats an animal so bad and then kills it. I’m pretty sure it’s a hyper percentage of those people that turn into killers look it up government or whoever governs the protection of animals. I am an always will be a person if I see an animal being harmed we’re starving. I will step in even that means I risk my own life because if I stood back and just watched it and didn’t do anything, then I’m no better than the abusers.
All animals deserve to be loved unconditionally, because they love us humans with such devotion as I’ve always said. Animals are better than humans. I live in Nanaimo BC and the abuse of any act towards animals cause by person doesn’t seem to be that important. I know we have our people that work for BC another animal rescue groups, but their hands are so tied behind their back when they do try to charge a person and bring them to justice and that bullshit needs to change as I said it should be that you heard an animal beat it kill it whatever you should have to do jail time the same as if it was to a kid and even saying that not all kids are protected either so keep going and never stop fighting for animals take care of everyone and all the animals too🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
