I am a stay at home mum and obviously don't think I should be earning working wages but how do they expect 3 people to live off of 1150 before tax a week in today's climate, I don't believe in having others raise your children I believe that is where alot of our youth problems stem. But it's like I'm forced back into the work force as soon as a popped a baby out just to survive, but if I work I earn just enough to cover child care so I am still in the same position except my child will hardly see me.

I am studying and working to get myself out of poverty. I was take off of Centrelink payments a year ago when my partner graduated university because his income was too high, yet our living situation is barely different from being room mates. What they don't take into account is that he has to work two jobs to pay off debt and barely has money left at the end of the week, let alone enough to cover my portion of the rent or bills. I manage to work a bit while studying but this only brings in $90-340 a week which doesn't even cover my half of rent and food. Thank god i'm not in an abusive relationship either.

If I am studying to better my future, why should I be punished for having a successful partner? We only just started living together and by centrelink's standards we are de facto yet we don't share any money! Why should I have to be reliant on him to pay my way through uni when the government should be investing in young people's future?

I am currently leaving a domestic abuse relationship in Australia - I am appalled that this judge has such ignorance and I am appalled that the law still has not caught up with the need! Thank you for creating this petition - lets pray those with the ability make the change.

I lost a friend through DV, she got lured by her ex husband to "sign divorce papers" but instead she got stabbed to death.
