Petition to Foxtel , Screen Australia, Senator Mitch Fifield

Let’s Save Wentworth!

Wentworth (or Wentworth Prison as it is known in some international markets) is an award winning Australian prison television drama. It has won a number of coveted awards including AACTA, ASTRA & Logie awards, as well as Australian Writers Guild and Australian Directors Guild awards. Wentworth has been telecast on the Foxtel network since its inception in 2013, initially on the SoHo channel and now on Showcase. Unfortunately, news has broken today (Friday, July 6th) that Foxtel has made the decision not to renew the show after Season 7.  This is devastating news for the legion of dedicated fans who have supported the show from the very beginning. It is also a surprising decision given the recent Logie awards success for the show, as well as the purchase of the first five seasons by the ABC station in Australia. If you, like me, want to see the show renewed for another season, please sign this petition, and contact Foxtel via phone (13 19 99), email (enquiries@foxtelcom.au) or social media (@foxtel @wentworthonfoxtel @showcaseaustralia), particularly if you are a subscriber. Also, repost @joantheprofound (on Instagram) post re saving Wentworth and tag your local stations (ABC, SBS, Netflix, Stan etc.) and streaming services in the hopes that one of them can pick it up. Let's get behind the amazing cast and crew that bring us edge of our seat drama!

TV must broadcast more about Autism / Dylsai teledu ddarlledu mwy am Awtistiaeth

I was interviewed on the radio last Thursday at last minute and the presenter asked me how further awareness on Autism can be raised: Despite mentioning my podcast series, I said that I started to raise awareness in the Media a few years ago because people watch or listen to too much and so they need something they can switch to and feel encouraged to learn about. It's NOT enough however to release documentaries and news stories about Autism, there has to be wider awareness about it. Therefore, it's time that soap operas and series started introducing such characters into their programmes seeing as how people enjoy such entertainment already. We've seen Down's Syndrome on screen countlessly; We've seen Motor Neurone on screen countlessly; It's high-time we saw Autism countlessly.   Ces i fy nghyfweld at y radio Dydd Iau diwethaf ar y funud olaf ac mae wnaeth y cyflwynydd ofyn i mi sut all ymwybyddiaeth bellach at Awtistiaeth gael ei chodi: Er gwaethaf i mi sôn am fy nghyfres podlediad, fe ddwedais i taw i mi ddechrau codi ymwybyddiaeth yn y Cyfryngau ychydig o flynyddoedd yn ôl oherwydd mae pobl yn gwylio neu'n gwrando at gormod ac felly meant angen rhywbeth fedrynt droi ati a theimlo fel eu bod wedi eu hannog i ddysgu amdani. Er hynny tydi hi DDIM yn ddigon i ryddhau rhaglenni dogfen a straeon newyddion am bythdi Awtistiaeth, mae angen ymwybyddiaeth ehangach amdani. Gan hynny, mae'n bryd i operau sebon a chyfresi ddechrau cyflwyno siwt gymeriadau i mewn i'w rhaglenni gan fod pobl yn mwynhau siwt adloniant yn barod. Rydym ni wedi gweld Syndrom Down ar y sgrin yn ddi-rif; Rydym ni wedi gweld Neurone Modur ar y sgrin yn ddi-rif; Mae'n hen bryd i ni weld Awtistiaeth yn ddi-rif.
