The Issue

Many issues within ish’s State events can be fixed by preventing players, especially ones with big followings, from streaming. Season 2.7 was a major insight into how this can plague an event with the mainstream rise of State and shift towards content oriented players. During 2.7, multiple plot points were spoiled, streamers were stream sniped in order to be used for clip farming, and viewers got a preconceived notion about the plot of the event, before having watched it.

During the events of 2.7, viewers also got too involved with the going ons of the event. Especially when player and streamer Saparata was not revived and Event Staff were harassed.

The biggest issue with streaming, however, was the excessive amount of metagaming through watching somebody’s stream. As well as the clout chasing taking place when players knew they were on camera. The whole point of why ish and the team stay invisible is to prevent unnatural roleplay, and this undos that.

Overall many players were disappointed to be spoiled through streams, because even if they chose to not watch it, they would still see it online. I would liken this to a movie script and footage getting leaked before it’s even started post production.
