Repeal Article V of Chapter 38, "Smoke-free Air" Ordinance.

Repeal Article V of Chapter 38, "Smoke-free Air" Ordinance.
The Issue
On May 24, 2022, The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners passed the "Smoke-free Air" Ordinance. This new ordinance replaces Article V of Chapter 38 of Gwinnett's "Clean Indoor Air" Ordinance, passed in 2005. The new Ordinance places severe restrictions on establishments that are currently smoking permitted facilities. This new act was passed with no regard for business owners or their employees. Many of these establishments have spent considerable sums of money to install and maintain air filtration systems, as well as outdoor smoking areas for customers. The adoption of this ordinance will have a significant negative impact on the revenues of these businesses, as well as those employed by these businesses.
We call on the Board of Commissioners to repeal the "Smoke-free Air" ordinance, and restore the original language used in Article V of Chapter 38 of the "Clean Indoor Air" Ordinance, regarding establishments where smoking is permitted.
