Stand With Ukrainians in America: Protect Those Who Sought Safety in the United States

By signing this petition, we are sending a clear message: Americans stand with the people of Ukraine and support their right to continued protection and safety in the United States.

For years, the United States has stood beside Ukraine and its people as they have endured the devastation, displacement, and uncertainty caused by Russia’s war. Ukrainians who sought refuge in America have built lives here, found employment, enrolled their children in our schools, contributed to our communities, and relied upon the United States as a place of safety.

Yet not every Ukrainian who arrived in the United States has been granted the same immigration protections. Ukrainians who arrived after certain eligibility dates may not qualify for protections such as Temporary Protected Status (TPS), leaving families who fled the very same war facing very different futures.

We believe the date a Ukrainian family arrived should not determine whether they deserve safety from an ongoing war.

This petition calls upon Congress and the United States government to provide continued and equitable humanitarian protections for Ukrainians currently residing in the United States, including those who were excluded from previous TPS eligibility dates.

Our message is simple: Ukraine is still at war. It is not yet safe for many Ukrainians to return. America should continue to protect the Ukrainian people who sought refuge here.

We demand:

Extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukraine for as long as conditions in Ukraine make safe return impossible.
Expand TPS eligibility to Ukrainians who arrived in the United States after August 16, 2023, so that Ukrainians who fled the same ongoing war are not denied protection simply because they arrived later.
Protect Ukrainians from deportation or forced return to Ukraine while the war and dangerous conditions continue.
Provide continued work authorization so Ukrainian families can legally work, support themselves, pay taxes, and remain contributing members of American communities.
Create protections for Ukrainians who entered through humanitarian parole programs, including those whose parole is expiring or who have been unable to obtain TPS under the current eligibility dates.
Provide a clear and reliable path to continued legal status for Ukrainians who have built lives in the United States while their homeland remains unsafe.
Keep Ukrainian families together and ensure that children, parents, and other immediate family members are not separated because of differences in immigration status or arrival dates.
Ensure fair and timely processing of TPS, work permits, humanitarian parole, and other immigration applications so Ukrainian families are not left for months without the ability to legally work or plan their futures.
