Remove Tekashi69, a convicted child sex offender, from Youtube.
The Issue
Tekashi69, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance on October 20, 2015. The exact terms of that charge are as follows:
A person is guilty of the use of a child in a sexual performance if knowing the character and content thereof he employs, authorizes or induces a child less than seventeen years of age to engage in a sexual performance or being a parent, legal guardian or custodian of such child, he consents to the participation by such child in a sexual performance.
In a video, posted online, a 13-year-old girl was seen engaging in oral intercourse with Tekashi69. Tekashi69 was also seen sexually touching the child, including standing behind the child in the video while “making a thrusting motion with his pelvis and smacking her on the buttocks,”
Tekashi69 claimed, “I don’t know her exact age, I think she was 14 or some shit like that.”
I was doing it for my image.” Earlier in his statement, he asserted, “The SCUMBAG persona is just for shock value. It started when I started making clothing with the words ‘HIV’ and ‘pussy’ on it. They got famous and went viral. Bam. Because ‘pussy’ and ‘HIV’ worked, the SCUMBAG69 hashtag would have the same shock value.”
Under the conditions of a plea deal... Judge Felicia A. Rennin ordered Hernandez to refrain from contact with gang members and must not be arrested during the probationary period. If he is found in violation of the plea agreement, he could face 1 to 4 years in prison. Tekashi69 also agreed not to commit another offence for two years so that he wouldn't have to register as a sex offender.
However, if he breached that plea deal he was told he could face up to three years in prison.
The hip hop star has since been arrested twice for allegedly choking a 16-year-old in a shopping centre in Houston earlier this year.
In May he was also arrested for driving without a licence, assaulting a police officer and obstructing governmental administration.
Assistant District Attorney Sara Weiss claims he violated the terms by getting arrested on further charges and using social media "to promote a culture of violence and glorify gang activity".
Daniel Hernandez, AKA Tekashi69 has violated his plea agreement and he must be held accountable. He must register as a sex offender. As such, his content must be removed from YouTube.
