Find Justice for Astrid Molzow-Gunter

    1. Petition by

      Tucker Perry

Three years ago, Felica Stenson and Astrid Molzow-Gunter collided in an accident that would traumatically amputate Astrid's leg. As Astrid's scooter lay on the ground and Astrid was rushed to the emergency room, Ms. Stenson failed a breathalyzer test.

For three years, Astrid has been confined to a wheelchair while Ms. Stenson is free on bail. The defense attorney's strategy is to play the long game. The longer it is drawn out, the more memory and cries for justice fade. The more he thinks we will forget.

The defense's latest maneuver is called a plea open. They will likely use this technique to request that the case not be heard by a jury and that Ms. Stenson be given a lenient sentence, such as an alcohol treatment program. If this is the case, she will not spend a single night in jail, nor be punished for changing Astrid's life forever.

The Judge was sick today. We turned the petition over to the ADA, and she will get it to the right place. Astrid's appearance has been pushed to next Friday. I've reopened the petition in the hopes that we can get even more people on board.

Wow, I can't believe we hit 700 signatures in just under 48 hours. I'll be handing this to Astrid this morning so that she can hand it off to the ADA.

Even if all we've done is galvanized our community, I think that is a wonderful thing and a powerful message.

Thank you all for your support.

      Best,
      Tucker

this whole case has been a travesty of justice. Astrid not only has been a victim of this drunken driver (alleged?) but of the justice system itself. Felica Stenson needs to go to trial NOW and have the court decide her guilt (or innocence).

I have known several people whose lives were changed by the actions of drunk drivers. People who were killed, crippled and financially ruined by someone who never spent a day in jail. It's time to stop the leniency. Mandatory jail time for repeat DUI.

My husband almost died at the hands of a drunk driver as well on his motorcycle. DRUNK DRIVING IS NOT PERMISSIBLE AND MUST BE STOPPED.

Ms Stenson has been avoiding the legal consequences of her alcoholism and damage to Astrid for three years and counting. Justice has been delayed, and justice delayed is justice denied.
