I just signed the following petition addressed to:
Release Jessica Runquist, and drop all charges! LET HER COME HOME!
Jessica Runquist, 26, is our daughter, and a native of Erial, N.J. We moved in 2007 to Glassboro, N.J. Jessica is a sweet kind girl who has Autism (PDD-NOS), and has Auditory Processing Disorder. She also suffered for 13 years with a chronic vomiting illness that was brought on by the Hepatitis Vaccine she had in 7th grade. It was very embarrassing for her, and she was in severe pain from it, and has had 11 root canals because of the acids.
About 14 months ago, Jessica was bitten by a vicious neighborhood Pit Bull. It bit her hand leaving 4 red marks. The Pit Bull also has a history of other attacks. Yet it still lives at its house to this day. It chewed a chunk out of Jessica's dog's face. It chewed a chunk out of the owner's son's face. It chewed another dog's stomach open in the neighborhood, and it needed surgery and over 60 stitches. It attacked the previous owner of the house where we moved to in Glassboro, and her dog. That was actually why the previous owners moved out before we moved in. If we were informed of the vicious Pit Bull, we NEVER would have moved here. In a moment of anger and hurt, Jessica ran over and scratched the Pit Bull owner's car and screamed for someone to kill her. Jessica has no prior record of any wrongdoing, and has no record of wrongdoing after this happened. But after hearing cruel words from the Pit Bull owner, she was antagonized to the breaking point. She was immediately arrested. The police hurt her neck and back during the arrest. We were ordered to pay over $1000 to the Pit Bull owner for a small car scratch, and then we had to bail Jessica out of jail. Then they wanted to arrest Jessica again, for no reason. Instead, they had an ambulance take her to the behavioral health unit of the hospital where she was given 7 medications. They sent her home with Akathisia and Tardive Dyskenisia. Her vomiting was worse than ever, and she never stopped shaking! These two disorders disable a person, and can be deadly! Jessica was too stiff to bend! She was twitching uncontrollably, and she fell quite a few times. And through all of this she could not sit down, and never slept. Even when stopping the medications that cause it, the conditions can be permanent. Jessica was finally healed by Dr. Magaziner from Cherry Hill, about 9 months ago. We took her off all of the potent medications that were making her sicker. He put her on a daily detox solution and vitamins and minerals every day. After 13 years of painful sudden vomiting and shaking, she was cured.
Later, a court order was issued that Jessica could not live at home in her own house! First, she and my wife stayed in a trailer for a few months. When the campground closed, we helped Jessica and her sister Ashley, get an apartment. Ashley also had many medical problems, so my wife was there helping most of the time, and we hired aides. After 8 months Ashley needed surgery and was very ill. We had to bring Ashley home. We requested help with Supervised Housing from the Disability Division for Jessica this past May. She was housed in a townhouse that was partially supervised. One day in early July of this year, Jessica had to ride with my wife to Glassboro to pick up Ashley in an emergency. She had just gotten out of the hospital a few days prior. Jessica herself called 911 for fear that her sister had blacked out again. They pulled up into the driveway. Two policemen came and saw Jessica sitting in the car. Jessica was arrested again, just for sitting in the car. She was shackled, handcuffed, stripped, and searched, and jailed. After another day in jail, Jessica was allowed to return to her supervised apartment with a Tracking Device on her ankle. After a few days later, the Director of the Housing did not want to deal with the tracking device and daily calls from police. In an instant, with no time for us to plan for other housing, the Director ended Jessica's housing there. She was immediately arrested again, this time they said, because she had no housing. She was handcuffed, shackled, stripped, searched, and put in a county jail cell alone. She was in jail for 12 days. Every time we called to check on her, they said she was doing very well. The prison guards commended Jessica for her wonderful behavior while in jail for all that time. The Judge still would not change the rule, and Jessica could not go home. The judge did not want to keep Jessica in jail, so they put her back in the behavioral health unit of the hospital. This does not make sense. Why would someone who is behaving well, be put back into the hospital. Please sign this petition to help us free Jessica from this horrible situation. We want her to return home to live with her family who loves her. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! PLEASE KEEP JESSICA IN YOUR PRAYERS.
.P.S. As upsetting as it is, we still have to see the vicious Pit Bull. The owner refuses to shut the gate! Two other families that were bite victims already moved out of the town. The owner used to be a jail guard, and is friends with many policemen. The dog is allowed to pull and yank on its chain as it barks and growls. We pray that no one else is attacked!
