Stop the massive hike in parcel postage costs by the post office

The new parcel rates ( 0 - 1 kg, 2nd class will rise from £3 odd to £5.20, 1 - 2kg from £5 odd to £8.00 ) will seriously damage local Post Office revenues.
We spend roughly £10,000 p.a. at our post office. This sort of price hike will force e-commerce business like ourselves to move to far more competitive, and efficient, private company couriers.
The Post Office needs to seriously examine it`s efficiency rather than force through huge price rises of nearly 70%, particularly with the massive growth in on-line sales.
We need our local Post Offices for many local services, this will force the closure of many, many more.

I`ve just seen a long ramble ffrom Royal Mail, explaining these prices rises, which concludes in saying that there was a "public consultation period upto 11/ 01 2013" . Did anyone actually get consulted? Even our Post Master didn`t know anything until 2 weeks ago!

Thanks to Richard in Penzance, apparently they are also going to cut compensation levels.

      Gets worse and worse.

    4. Milestone and more restrictions.

We have now reached 100 signatures, not sure what effect we`ll have , but it is a milestone.
      Update on parcel post changes:

      A) small parcel cannot now be thicker than 8cm, so automatically goes to next sizing ( and of course pricing ) band.
      B) maximum size allowable to be sent via the Post Office will be 60cm 40cm x 40cm. Apparently we can use Parcel Force for bigger parcels!

We have just had a flyer from Parcel Force inviting us to use Stafford sorting hub - we live in South Manchester. So that`s really going to work.

      Keep signing!

Royal Mail are abusing their power, using the government to support such criminal behaviour.

I sell some stuff on eBay, but these price increases means it's no longer viable. This is the beginning of the end of the Post Office I think. I have already noticed less people in my local GPO. Greedy fools!

I used to sell things regularly on ebay until the new prices came in. Thanks Royal Mail.
