本田由紀・東京大学教授の差別的発言に対し、我々は彼女の解雇を求めます。彼女の発言は撤回されることなく、むしろ開き直りが見られます。差別的な意見は許されるべきではありません。そして、このような発言をする人物が人権教育に携わる立場にあることは、大きな矛盾とも言えます。

本田由紀教授が行った発言には、以下のような問題が指摘されています。

まず、生得的属性による評価です。彼女が使った「遺伝が恐ろしい」という表現は、人が自ら選ぶことのできない血統や出自を理由に否定的な評価を下しているかのように受け取られます。これがいかに甚だしい問題であるかは、過去の歴史を振り返れば明らかです。

次に、発言内容が優生学を連想させるという点です。近代史においては、「悪い血筋」や「劣った遺伝」という考え方が差別や排除の根拠として悪用されてきた経緯があります。このため、誰かを評価する際の言葉選びには非常に慎重である必要があります。しかしながら、教授の発言にはそのような配慮が見られませんでした。

何よりも大切なのは、本田氏が東京大学の教授であり、日本教育学会の会長という教育者として責任ある立場にあるということです。教育者は未来を担う若者に多大な影響を与える立場であり、彼らの意識を形作る責任を持っています。したがって、本田氏のような人権意識に欠ける発言をする人物がそのような立場にいること自体が問題です。

私たちは、似非リベラルに退場してもらい、真のリベラルの復権を目指しています。この問題を解決するために、本田由紀教授の解雇を求める声を一緒に上げていただけることを願っています。彼女の立場に相応しい行動を促すためには、皆様のご協力が必要です。どうか、この請願に署名をお願いします。

Petition for the Dismissal of Professor Yuki Honda, University of Tokyo

We call for the dismissal of Professor Yuki Honda of the University of Tokyo in response to her discriminatory remarks.

Her statement has not been withdrawn. Instead, her subsequent responses have appeared to justify or double down on the remarks. Discriminatory speech should not be tolerated. Moreover, it is deeply contradictory for someone who makes such statements to hold a position responsible for human rights education.

The remarks made by Professor Honda have been criticized for several reasons.

First, they appear to judge individuals based on innate characteristics. Her expression that “genetics are terrifying” can reasonably be interpreted as a negative evaluation of people on the basis of their lineage or family background—attributes that no one chooses for themselves. The gravity of such thinking is evident from the lessons of history.

Second, the language evokes the ideology of eugenics. Throughout modern history, notions such as “bad bloodlines” or “inferior heredity” have been misused to justify discrimination and exclusion. For that reason, great care is required when discussing or evaluating others. Professor Honda’s remarks failed to demonstrate that level of responsibility.

Most importantly, Professor Honda is not only a professor at the University of Tokyo but also the president of the Japan Educational Research Association. As an educator, she occupies a position of significant responsibility and has a profound influence on the values and perspectives of future generations. It is therefore deeply troubling that a person who makes remarks lacking in respect for human rights should remain in such a role.

We seek the departure of pseudo-liberalism and the restoration of genuine liberal values. To help resolve this issue, we ask you to join us in calling for the dismissal of Professor Yuki Honda. Your support is essential in holding her accountable and encouraging conduct worthy of her position.
