ආර්ථික, සමාජීය සහ දේශපාලනික කඩාවැටීම හේතුවෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව 2009 යුද්ධය අවසන් වීමෙන් පසු එහි දරුණුතම අර්බුදය හරහා ගමන් කරමින් සිටී.

මෙම අස්ථාවරත්වය රටේ ශ්‍රම බලකායෙන් සැලකිය යුතු පිරිසක් විදෙස් රැකියා සදහා සංක්‍රමණය වීමට හේතු වී තිබේ. විශේෂයෙන්ම සැලකිය යුතු බුද්ධිමතුන් පිරිසක් වඩා හොඳ ජීවන තත්වයක් ලගාකර ගැනීම පිණිස රට හැර ගොස් ඇත.

ලෝක බැංකු දත්තවලට අනුව මිලියන 1.5කට අධික ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් විදේශයන් හී වාසය කරති. කම්කරු අමාත්‍යාංශ වාර්තා සඳහන් කරන්නේ, වාර්ෂිකව රැකියා සඳහා 200,000 කට අධික පිරිසක් සංක්‍රමණය වන බවයි. මෙම පුද්ගලයින්ට තම මව් රටේ අනාගතය හැඩගැස්වීමට සහභාගී වීමට ඇති අයිතිය අහිමි නොකළ යුතුය. ඉදිරි ජනාධිපතිවරණයේ දී මෙම පුරවැසියන්ට ඡන්දය ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට අවස්ථාවක් ලබාදීමට අපි වගබලා ගැනීම ඉතා වැදගත්ය.

මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් වහා පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස අපි ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජයෙන් සහ අදාළ බලධාරීන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමු. එතෙර සිටින ශ්‍රී ලාංකික පුරවැසියන්ගේ ඡන්ද අයිතිය තහවුරු කිරීම සහ ඔවුන්ට 2024 ජනාධිපතිවරණයේදී ඡන්දය ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට අවස්ථාව සැලසීම වඩාත් ඇතුළත් සහ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවක් ස්ථාපිත කිරීමේ වැදගත් පියවරක් වනු ඇත.

⁡මෙම පෙත්සමට සහය වන ලෙස දෙස් විදෙස් සියලුම ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන්ගෙන් අපි ඉල්ලා සිටිමු. සෑම ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය පුරවැසියෙකුම, ඔවුන් කොතැනක ජීවත් වුවද, අපේ රටේ අනාගතය ගැන අදහස් දැක්වීමට වගබලා ගනිමු.

Due to economic, social and political collapse, sri lanka is emerging through its worst turmoil since the end of the war in 2009

This instability lead the country's work force to migrate, specially considerable number of  intellectuals have left the country in searching for better life standard.

According to World Bank data, there are over 1.5 million Sri Lankans living abroad. Labour ministry reports mention that ver 200,000 people migrate for work annually.  These people should not be denied their right to participate in shaping the future of their home country. It is crucial that we ensure these citizens are given an opportunity to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

We urge the government of Sri Lanka and relevant authorities to take immediate action on this matter. Confirming overseas Sri Lankan citizens' voting rights and providing them with an opportunity for voting in the 2024 presidential election would be a significant step towards establishing a more inclusive and democratic Sri Lanka.
