نحن الموقعات والموقعين أدناه، نطالب بالإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عن الناشط علاء عبد الفتاح، الذي سيكمل يوم 29 سبتمبر 2024 خمس سنوات كاملة من السجن بموجب حكم ظالم. هذا الحكم يأتي بعد خمس سنوات كان قد قضاها علاء سابقًا في السجن على خلفية مشاركته في تظاهرات سلمية. وما بين الحكمين قضى علاء ستة أشهر من المراقبة التعسفية والتنكيل اليومي.

إن الحبس الأخير لعلاء عبد الفتاح بدأ بعملية خطف غير قانونية، تبعها انتهاكات قاسية داخل السجن، ثم تهديده بعدم الحديث عن ذلك. لقد مر علاء بفترات صعبة للغاية، وصلت إلى درجة تفكيره في الانتحار بسبب الانتهاكات المتكررة التي تعرض لها، وعدم وجود أمل في محاكمة عادلة. 

و تعرض علاء لاعتداء جديد وهو في حالة إضراب عن الطعام ومقيد بالأصفاد، وتم تجاهل بلاغات من أسرة ومحامين علاء بشأن هذا التعدي. في نهاية المطاف، تم نقله إلى سجن آخر بعيد عن المسؤولين عن تعذيبه، حيث سُمح له أخيرًا بالحصول على كتب بعد حرمان دام سنتين وثمانية أشهر.

لقد تم الحكم على علاء بالسجن لخمس سنوات دون مرافعات قانونية أو فرص للطعن، وخاض إضرابًا طويلاً عن الطعام للاحتجاج على هذه الانتهاكات.

ولا يمكننا أن ننسى العنف والانتهاكات التي تعرضت لها أسرته، لمجرد مطالبتهن بحقوقه الأساسية كسجين. علاء تم سجنه خمس سنوات بسبب إعادة نشر منشور على فيسبوك يتحدث عن ظروف تعذيب ووفاة سجين آخر في نفس السجن، وتحت يد نفس الضابط الذي قام بتعذيبه.

الآن، بعد مرور كل هذه السنوات، يُنهي علاء حكمه بالكامل في ٢٩ سبتمبر ٢٠٢٤. ومع ذلك، يبدو أن السلطات المصرية تتعمد التغاضي عن هذا الواقع، في انتهاك واضح للقوانين التي تنظم انتهاء فترة السجن.

نحن نطالب بالإفراج الفوري عن علاء عبد الفتاح، ليس فقط استنادًا إلى انتهاء فترة حكمه، بل أيضًا من منطلق إنساني وأخلاقي. 

الحرية لعلاء، والحرية لنا جميعًا من قبضة السجون والظلم.

Call for Alaa Abdel Fattah's immediate release

 

We, the undersigned, call for the immediate and unconditional release of activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, who, on September 29, 2024, will have spent five years in prison under an unjust sentence. This sentence came after Alaa had already served five years in prison for participating in peaceful protests. Between these two sentences, Alaa also endured six months of arbitrary surveillance and daily harassment.

Alaa’s current imprisonment began with an illegal abduction, followed by severe abuses in prison and threats that prevented him from speaking out. He has gone through callous times, to the point of contemplating suicide due to the ongoing violations he faced and the lack of hope for a fair trial.

While on hunger strike, Alaa suffered yet another assault while shackled in chains, and his family’s and lawyers' complaints about this abuse were ignored. Eventually, he was transferred to another prison, away from those responsible for torturing him. Only then was he finally allowed access to books after being deprived of them for over two years.

Alaa was sentenced to five years without a fair trial or any chance to appeal, leading him to go on a prolonged hunger strike to protest these violations.

We also cannot overlook the violence and harassment his family has faced simply for advocating for his fundamental rights as a prisoner. Alaa was sentenced to five years for reposting a Facebook post that detailed the torture and death of another prisoner in the same prison at the hands of the same officer who tortured him.

After all these years, Alaa will complete his sentence on September 29, 2024. However, it seems the Egyptian authorities are deliberately ignoring this fact, blatantly violating the laws that govern the conclusion of a prison sentence.

We are demanding Alaa Abdel Fattah’s immediate release, not just because he’s served his time, but because it is the right and humane thing to do.
